Horton, driveshaft opinions wanted

What do u mean it doesnt seal? Like its not a tapered pipe thread? And ive heard to be careful about alot of tape on the threads of those not allowing the sensor to ground to the block. Couldnt it go in the intake as well up front on the water passage? And my oil is tied in with a tee on the back of the intake, the other outlet on the tee is the low pressure unit. Id run it on the side like keith suggested. Much easier to acces. Even with my skinny hands it was a pain to tighten the fitting on the back unless you take the dizzy out. Edit: i removed the low pressure sensor and put the mechanical pressure and electric one on the tee. I check gauges religiously so im not worried about needing that sensor.

He said his water and oil are mechanical so it doesn't need a ground. The computer reads off the intake, gauge reads from the heads.

Oh and on my coolant temp sensor i used a brass threaded bushing. I cant remember what size. I think the head was 3/4 npt and the sensor was 1/2 npt. Ot it was 1/2 head and 3/8s sensor but i beleive it was the first combo. Works perfect.

It seems I have 2 oil senders, I just need to figure out which one controls the computer and which one controls the gauge.

Stupid bushing on the coolant sensor its in now.

Sometimes when you are tired nothing makes much sense at all.

Dude ur in the home stretch, horton looks awesome apart from those blue fenders, and you can wheel it as is if push comes to shove. Shiz man ur on ur way to the hammers tomorrow, its gonna be awesome, stick that oil sender in the side of the block where that sender is, it looks unimportant

Well there is the one right above the filter w a bunch o wires coming out of it, then there is a unit on the passenger side under the manifold that is a single, it looks like that one is for the gauge, i dont have any kind of specialized chevy info at all though, so its very possible im wrong.

take lots of pics out there at KOH for all of us losers stuck at home!:pimp:
Have a great trip, hope you guys do great and have some fun while you are at it.

Ready to go, Horton goes to the hammers :D

So thought a little update was in order.

KOH was a blast, didn't get many pics, of course I only really wheeled one day, the race truck I was with broke alot, so much time fixing it.

I do know now everyone should have airbumps, I bet I picked up 15 mph in the desert.

But KOH was not without carnage for me.

First for the good, Russel really helped me out getting Horton to run good, my CTS was screwed up a bit, and the IAC isn't really working too well. but we got stuff squared away and Horton runs better now, pretty much thanks to Russel.

Now for the bad, I broke a hub on wrecking ball, well broken hub led to a broken detroit:doah::doah::doah:

I am very unhappy with the detroit locker now, not sure if I will be able to change it to something else but I do want too.

So now I am left with 2 broken detroit lockers, finally got to takin em apart tonight and just as suspected the teeth on the side gears are gone.

Fortunately though only the teeth on one side gear are gone, so took 2 detroits apart and made one good one. Now lets just hope I don't break a hub or shaft.

Really need to upgrade shafts and get drive flanges, or just quit doing stupid things................so pretty much need to upgrade.

Also in the works soon is a redesign of my crossmember for the doubler, I kind of did it in a hurry so I used one built by me and a modified stock one for the other crossmember.

While doing something kind of dumb I got hung up big time on my belly and managed to bend the back crossmember, so I am going to rebuild both and make a skidplate.

So some updates will happen pretty soon here

Did you forget about the broken U Joint on the front driveline?

Hope all is well Eric!!!!!

was that at hammers, or BB11?

I like the passed right over comment of consideration to stop doing stupid things....nice add Eric!

dude we just need to get that Detroit out of there, hubs and ujoints are to be expected to break, but not a 150$ side gear on a Detroit every time you break a hub, that's lame, and it makes trail fixes worthless. Hell if you and I are out wheeling and you break the BDOS isn't heavy enough to pull you out lol, lets fix both of those sluts and sell them to someone who doesn't wheel as hard and or doesn't have such big tires on a stock 60. Hey Keith you want a Detroit for the burb? :pimp:
