Howdiy's halfassed 4 link

I guess I'm just kind of pissed because they said they do next day shipping now, and I also called it in and specified USPS flat rate. So I expected it would be here 3-4 days after I ordered so I've planning on my making my lower links for a week and a half now lol.

do you have a tracking number for it? i would assume no since you havent gotten it yet. but might could try to get one

I'm not too worried now, this next 7 days is the end of the semester anyways so I won't have time. Hopefully it gets here by this time next week.

Shipped today and the delivery date is next Wednesday

I did call so I could get USPS flat rate priority but at this point I'm just happy I'll get it by my winter break.

Bent some 5/8's steel today

I'll do the other this weekend probably

Cutting it will be interesting :eek1:

The idea is something like this but I want a little more room so I can weld both sides.

I think I'll make the part that connects to the pinion out of some 1/4 or 5/16.

This about does it

I'm gonna do the last two cuts with a sawzall.

Cut like butter, didn't even use a new blade, then ground to fit

Tomorrow all my parts will arrive :D. I ordered some tabs from DIY4X today so by the time those arrive I should just about be needing them.

might be a good idea to give those a nice little bevel cut on both sides being it's so thick... maybe a double pass down each side too... tho I forget what machine you have...

I'm using a snap on muscle mig that plugs into 220, not sure of the exact model. It welded the 3/8" tabs on my front hydro assist pretty easily.

I was thinking about doing the bevel though just didn't do it yet. I also need to weld the axle tubes to the housing. That seems to be somewhat interesting. I'll just preheat it a bit and weld it, should be good enough

I got the stuff today

Apparently they thought I said 3 ballistic joints . Had to order another today.

The link is pretty huge, 47" eye to eye

Heres another pic

ahh, ok. Hows the truss coming? You gonna tie it into the pinion housing like the BTF one?

I toned down the picture taking

I'll start taking more now :D

Yeah, it shouldn't be too hard to tie it into the pinion

The 3/4 bit I got from fastenall worked pretty well in my 50 dollar drill press.

I got an np205 with a fixed rear yoke for free today also. I just need to get the th400 adapter.

Tomorrow all the crap in the rear comes out :D

Btw a word of advice from previous experience. Never try to drill a hole by hand over 1/2in without taking 1/8 or better yet 1/16th in steps at a time. I've broken, twisted, and destroyed, 10 odd 5/8ths and 3/4 drill bits like that...
