I have a K5!

Eh, the sad part is this seat is FAR better than the original. Came out of a '90 K5 and appears to be in awesome shape...but I can feel it crushing in as I sit on it.

I really can't say anything. I replaced the bench in mine with the Smittybuilt bucket replacements within 4 mos. of owning the 'Burb. 1200 miles on a low back bench was enough. That's 1 round trip from Charleston S.C 29420 to Alliance , Ohio 44601.

I just can't believe I drove all the way from Seattle to Michigan and then around for a few more months on the original seats. Even the passenger side was trashed!

How do you like those Smittybuilt seats? I was thinking either some of the good conventional seat replacements or some kind of race bucket suspension seat. A friend of mine had Mastercrafts in his Ranger and oy, were they nice.

I like them a lot! I just had to make the brackets to put them to the floor. Baisically some 2"x2" x3/8" angle cut and bent to follow the floor.

There's one frame and the buckets move independently from each other.

Looks good. I'd probably do separate buckets though. Maybe a Tuffy center console.

I like it, looks good going to be durable also. I wanted to do that to mine but wasn't quite in the budget at the time. So when i checked around for prices of carpet kits they screwed up and i got the whole kit front back everything for $70.00 so that will work for now. Your rig is looking good!

That's much cheaper than I could find. I was finding in the $300's somewhere by the time I had carpet and insulation.

Happier with my setup. I'm messy.

Thanks for the compliments.

This is a little off topic AJ but I wanted to give you props for the Four Wheeler letter you sent for the December issue.

When I was reading that "Best Buys" article last month I had a feeling someone was gonna chew them up for the CUCV thing. Sure enough, I get less than 10 pages into the new issue and there's your letter and some CK5 love. Awesome! :waytogo:

Hah, thanks.

****ty part is I still haven't seen it. I'm in the middle of moving and my copy is probably some place between Traverse City, MI and Lexington, KY.

I saw it too. Thought about bringin it up. But didn't think it was necesary.:o

Bit of an update.

Haven't done much to it other than fix small things (gp controller wiring and connector, lower radiator hose, ummmmmm...) but it's a good DD so far and has done a great job doing yeomen truck duty hauling stuff and towing trailers including my move down to Kentucky. Mileage isn't great but I'm not complaining too loud as it's still better than a 350. Did great over the winter but it's definitely getting painted before the surface rust gets further.

Some pics.

And I have yet to find another 89-91 Diesel K5 in as good of condition for any price around here :doah:

Nice Pics AJ. That is exactly what I'm aiming for, a K5 that I can afford to commute and daily drive with. So far I'm still spending all my money on my '90 gasser :doah:

any thoughts on ways tweak your fuel mileage? should be getting in the 20's at least. my diesel 4Runner is pulling down 25MPG now and I'd like to be close to that when I get my dream diesel K5

Hehehehehe, thanks man.:waytogo::bow: I've had folks offering to buy it since I got home. Heck, I think I got an offer in Wyoming or something.

My commute just about doubled, but only about 40 per day now instead of 26.
I believe something is not right with the transmission. Tries to go into OD at about 35mph, shudders occasionally when in OD at around 60 and I'm trying to accelerate - I think it's the TC trying to unlock for a little more "getup and go".
It's an automatic, I want a manual.

I also think I've got a slight IP leak. It's all on the list. Good job now, money is coming, to be fixed.
