My name is Joel and I live in east Tennessee. I have 1970 K5 that was once a government vehicle, hence the name 70GIK5. It has a 350 SB, SM465, and the original Dana 20 transfer case. My other vehicles are a 72 Checy C10, an 84 Jeep CJ7, and a 95v Tahoe. Yes, I have too much crap in my garage.

Hello everybody.... hello doctor nick

Hi my names Brandon and I am a Chevy Freak!!!!!!!! anyways i live in a small town in Texas called yokum... It's boring but I have land and 2 nice little (cough) 1988 suburbans. one i am restoring and the other i drive to and from school in. I need a suspension lift for my 3/4 ton suburban that is strong and inexpensive. Coming to my first question. which lift do y'all recommend. a 6" Rough country lift with rear springs or a 6" tuff country lift with rear springs???????? I am new at the whole truck thing so i decided that you guys could help me out.... and girls :). ok... akward. I'm new... anyways i recently worked on body repair and small time engine repair for porche racecars and old mercedes.... mercedes are slow and boring.. especially old ones. Yeah im done. CHEVY'S RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6 in sub lift

from what ive seen and have been in retail alot till a few years ago the lifts your looking at are most likly made by the same place with diffrent names on them. and guss what there all steel to a degree. if it has a Nike swosh then its 100 more , i would go with the rear springs for sure but the brand i would go with the not cheapest but least exspenice kit, do they both come with same mods bushings steering arms , ect shocks no shock what brand shocks theres one for you shock brands do count models and makes. inports form chinna no stick with shoft firm or adj pick one then find one thats made by a comperitor thats less costly to you.. yea im done . o yea let me know what tire size you go to and what mpg you get i have a 89 3/4 burb with 33 no lift i get 12 mpg

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself for know. I live in Eagle River, AK about 20 miles north of Anchorage and I'm the proud owner of an '86 GMC K3500 3+3. I got her with about 125K on the odometer and she's got about 160K now. Still on the original motor and running good but puffs a little smoke at start up. She's stock with a 350, TH400, NP205, Dana 60, and corp 10.5" except for the wheels and tires, 285/75R16 on 8" white spokes. I don't really have any questions or other comments at the moment but would like to say, this is the first and only internet group I've joined. Seems like a good bunch of people and a great subject.

Roll on,
Bart

check this

With 160,000 miles on it probably ready for valve cover gaskets. If you do decide to change them, check oil return holes. I've seen them stop up and it will hold oil on top of heads, which will let oil drain around older valve seats. Its cheap enough to do. 20 to 25 dollars for gaskets and a little time. If they aren't stopped up you got new gaskets and are out a little time. BUT If it quits smoking after it starts and runs I wouldn't get to worried about it.

Good idea

Yea, I'll check that out. I've been meaning to replace them anyway as they leak a bit but I suspect she's just an old motor and probably needs some work on the valve guides. Like you say though, it quits once she's running so I'm not really worried about it now. Actually I'm kinda looking forward to wearing it out. I'd like to slip in a 400 small block with vortec heads, that outta be kick in the pants. And, there's plenty of other things to do in the mean time. I'm thinking about mounting a York compressor for onboard air next summer. I can't really do it in the winter since I'm driveing it every day but starting to collect parts.

Well lets see... Hi everyone. I am from South Carolina. I currently am struggling through life at Clemson University in the Mechanical Engineering program. I have been wheeling for about 6 years now in Toyotas. Recently I bought a 97 Tahoe to double as a DD and Tow Rig for the Yota. The more I think about it the more I want to SAS the Tahoe.... but that will have to wait til I graduate I guess. Hopefully I can lurk around here and start my pipe dream of a SAS Tahoe on 40's.

My name is Adam and I am from Syracuse NY. I just picked up a 1990 K5 Blazer from a buddy of mine for $600. I always planned on buying one down the road after my other car was paid off but i just couldn't pass up the offer. I plan on restoring it over the next couple of years after I drive it this winter. I look forward to learning a little about this truck.

Hi There

Hello all,
I've been an enthusiast for a while, and have finally got myself a full size 89 blazer. I look forward to learning how to get the best out of it and see some of the backwoods of Michigan.

biodiesel for 92's?

greetings,
I have some super basic questions regarding a 1992 Jimmy that i'm thinking about buying. i'm interested in using biodiesel as a additional fuel source. I have a reliable local source for recycled oil biodiesel.
Looking for feed back of experiences and knowledge on the caustic properties of biodiesel on the rubber hoses and seals of this truck. I've read a few online sources that say that the auto industry shifted to synthetic rubber (less resistant to corrosion) in either 92 or 94. What year was it and how much of a differance is it going to make?
Also the truck is in need of a new fuel injector pump. The previous owner used bd but i'm not sure how much, could the bd also be a contributing factor to this repair?
I would probably use a mix of petrodiesel and biodiesel, but curious what my options are. thanks,
liquid amber
