Howdy,Y'all! Sorry it had taken me so long to join, as I had frequented this site for the past few years. Hey, I finally made it! I live in Butler,Pa (Yes,home of the Heep!). Don't get to play to much as money is tight, but I enjoy tinkering with my junk.

Howdy folks. My name is Joe, and I live in Gold Bar, Washington. I picked up my 85 K20 Diesel 'Burb a little over a year ago, and it had been in a field for the last 3 years. I figured it was parked because of a blown head gasket and then the water froze and cracked the block. I put in an engine from a local wrecking yard, and got it running great...love the mileage the diesel gets. After a few months of driving, the tranny (700R4) went out so I parked it. I was going to have the tranny rebuilt, but I found great deal on an SM-465. So after reading the tech article (many times) on this site, I decided to convert it over to a manual transmission. I ran in to a couple little headaches with the conversion. The biggest one was I found out I have to change the input gear on the NP-208, I also had some problems getting the starter to fit, and I decided to adapt the removable tranny tunnel/center floor pan from a Blazer. I am still working on the conversion (been very busy), but I have also managed to find a set of wheels with 33's and a new carpet kit for it too...the original carpet smelled like rotten hay. I'm going to try to have it back together in a week or so....I hope. Thanks!

Howdy Y'all

Just wanted to say hey and introduce myself.
My name is Craig and I currently live in Alabama but I was born and raised around the Dallas, Texas area. I am in the US Army stationed at Fort Rucker, Alabama where I am a UH-60 Blackhawk instructor pilot. I teach the new Army helicopter pilots how to fly the blackhawk. I am married with two beautiful daughters.
I have a 1985 K5 Blazer with about 140,000 miles on it and it's been sitting in my dads barn in East Texas since September of 2001 when I got deployed overseas. I plan on fixing my blazer up and then driving it on out here to Alabama. My plan is to get a new 350 to replace the "sleepy 305" and also put Flowmaster exhaust on it. The headliner is also coming down and I need to replace it also. It has BF Goodwrench radial all terrain 33x12.50's on it with no lift kit. Does anyone have any other recommendations that they've experienced while they were redoing their K5? I'd put a picture of my truck on here but I have no idea how to insert the URL script when it's from external hard drive.

V/R,
Craig

First post...i think

Well, i believe this is my first post here. I live about 25 miles east of Dallas, Texas. I have 2 trucks, ones a 1978 GMC Jimmy...4" suspension Lift, 35" Mickey thompson tires, 454Big Block, th350, and NP203. MSD 6AL ign. Box, accel super coil, B&M Shifter, 2-chamber flowmasters. The other is a 1982 GMC K-15 pickup...6.2 diesel, sm465 and NP208. Everything about this truck is stock, but I don't know for how long. I enjoy mudding, and rock crawling, and hanging out with friends on the lake, and going fishing in my boat.

I joined up recently and have met a couple members from here when I picked up my K5 tub and frame last weekend. My name is Steve and I live in Kernersville, NC I'm 21 and I love sharing Milk Shakes and walks on the beach.:haha:

I have converted over to the "dark side" from my last project a 2KXJ w/ fulwidths on 36" IROKs. I work for Classic Automotive Restoration in Belews Creek, NC. specifically in sales. We do full restorations, from '29 Packards, '62 Panhard's to '70 Superbirds and everything else under the sun. We also manufacture the '69 Camaro bodies licensed by General Motors. I've got several other projects including a shaved, dropped ls1/t-56 powered bright amber metallic '67 chevy big window.

I will be starting a build-up thread on the K5 which is getting disc'ed eaton rear, 60 front, doubler, 42" IROKS, 350/350 cage etc. Looking forward to meeting more of y'all and doing some wheel'n.:D

Hey there ... I'm back.

I haven't been here in a LONG time so I've lost track of who's who. I still recognize a few names but don't know most. I had some serious medical problems (back) and life was put on hold for over a year or so. I met some folks on another board when I moved to Flora-duh - NWFL4x4 or something like that - but lost track of them too.

I haven't wheeled, camped or hunted since 2004 - right before I moved to FL, and the truck sat for a good while. I need to fix a few things just to get it road (off-road?) worthy - brake lights would be a good thing to start with (I think it's a broken wire).

Anyway - I renewed my membership and I'm gonna start lurking (and commenting occasionally) again. The forums look TOTALLY different so as soon as I figure out how to post pix, I'll do so.

I think I'll check out what's going on in the garage. Later!

PS - Who the hell stole my signature???

My name is Anthony, and I live in Arizona. I had a 1985 k5, but sold it to a friend when I bought my new silverado, that was about six years ago. I'm just beginning to look for either another k5, or a k10. I love the 6.0 that's in my truck, and plan on putting one into whatever I pickup. I noticed that there's a lot of engine swap talk here, and that I will definitely need.

Greetings! Name is matt, and I have two rides. My ride (backup but quickly becoming my main :D :D :D) is a 1977 K5 that has been in my family for a few years; I just shelled out a few bucks to get it flatbedded from MN to AR. I love it to death and can't wait to crank it up a couple of more inches and get it more trail-ready - already taken it on one camping trip and I love it to pieces.

What's up!!

Hello everybody, I've been looking around here quite a while and decided this was the best place I've ever seen for GM buildups and knowledge about them. I have a '74 rust/bondo bucket K20 that I bought from a buddy without the engine for real cheap. It had a 454, 465, 205, 14FF, D44, 6" skyjacker, 3" body, sittin on 44" boggers when I bought it less the motor. He pulled it and put it in his race car hauler, left the truck in the yard, and lost interest in it. I bought it from him a couple of years ago for 1500 bucks and been slowly building it up. So far now I put a D60 trac-loc'd with 5.13's with the ORD crossover setup, 5.13's detroit locked in the 14FF, Rear disc conversion, Dropped a 350 SBC that I built with a little aluminum love @ about 400HP/TQ, and waiting to get home to pull the t-case out to fix some leaks and install a 32 spline front output so I can run flanges(which I already have) and HAD shafts. This ain't gonna be a trailer queen and will prolly won't see rocks as I live about 5 miles from the gulf coast in LA so it's mainly mudholes. All I really need to get it goin is some exhaust, Dshafts, and front brake lines if ya'll can help me find them. As for me I'm 28, An Industrial Mechanic by trade(No formal schoolin, Just a lot of degrees from the College of Hard Knocks), New wife, New house, Work a 14 & 14 schedule offshore, and love hittin the mudpits when I'm home. I'll post up some pics when I get home next Thursday of both my 4x's, the Beast and the Dmax.

Thanks for having me,
Dirty
