Introductions & Greetings

Hello

:haha: My name is Drew and I have a 4x4 problem........... I bag them too much. :wink1: That is the first step the wife says......I see I am one of the few members from Canada. I have had several rigs but nothing too serious and have a 76 blazer I am thinking about putting my 55 Willy's Ambulance body onto. Blazer has a bored 350 with 10.0 to 1's, dart heads, comp 292 cam. Trans is t 350 with stage 2 kit with stock 203 tcase and 308 axles. dana 44 front and 12 bolt rear. Looking for FF 14 for the rear and dana 44 8 bolt or bigger for the front. Blazer already clears 35's so with the body swap I think I can bolt on 37's-38's with no more lift. Anyone have any input or info on this?? It would be greatly appreciated.

Hello to everybody!

My name is Thomas, I live in Austria (Europe) and I'm new to vintage US-Cars. I always drove BMW and now Toyota Landcrusier, I like off road driving very much!
Funny story how I got my Blazer and first US-Car ever. I got it as a gift from a work mate of mine. Not knowing what I will get I took the Blazer over. It is a 79 K5 Cheyenne with automatic gear, power windows all around, air condition, diff lock, power steering, winter package and so on...I was impressed that those old cars have all the goodis of a modern car! However, I thought I will drive it a little and then scrap it. But then it turned out that the Blazer has been completely restored some years ago (engine and automatic gear rebuilt, new metal sheets, new paint job, etc.) and is in overall quite good condition. Just very minor matters and no broken or damaged things. So I started to invest time and money and finally I got crazy for old US-V8 engines and the Blazer in general! Great sound and power.

Installed new Flowtech headers, new dual 2 1/4 inch dual exhaust system, Edelbrock 500cfm carb, Edelbrock intake and Edelbrock camshaft. Renewed the suspension by a 4" Superlift all leaf system, new bushings, new pitman, steering arm, and Rancho dual steering stabilizer. Took off the carpet and rebuilding the floor for heavy duty utilization. Will use Protecta-Cote instsead of carpet. Got new Front seat from an Alfa 147. Restored all interior parts and the headliner. Will order new door boards and dasboard to completely renew the interior. Will also get a new paint job (RAL7022 umbragay). I hope I can finish my projet before sprint 2007, cause I want enjoy riding my new Toy :D

Btw... I also plan to change differential ratio. Have stock diff. gears (3,73 I think) and have 35x14,50 MT Baja Belted tyres. I still cannot deside wheter I shall take the 4.11 gear or 4.56...what do you think!? Can you recommend me something?? Please

So, enough the many words...cheers
Thomas
 sounds like you have a really sweet truck there. and I do not believe there is ever too many words when you are describeing something you are as passionate about as you seem to be about your K5.
Me personnally I have the 4.11's and will be changing to the 4.56's soon. but thats just me. but you need to research what is best for how you use your K5:waytogo:

Hey glad to be here...my name is Trey I got a 1974 K5...live in Bulverde, Texas.

Well a little about the old rust bucket...A stock 1st gen blazer with bullet holes. But the plan calls for Rockwells, 53s, 4 link, 400SB, and every thing in between.
I've been around the world and back again with the Army. This next year is going to be the work year on the blazer. Finally getting back after a year in the sandbox...
Well I hope to be able to pick y'all's brain on everything blazer and then some over the course of time...

Hi, my name is Karl and I am German (so please excuse my limited english). Glad to find this side as I a plan a K5-project. Over here, it is not common to drive V8. Cars, build in the US are kind of exotic over here (think of our gas-prices!). Started driving american cars by buying my Grand Cherokee 2 years ago. I really injoy it and so I decided to buy a Blazer and try to built it up (I am no mechanician so it will become a learning by doing project). The market for Blazer, especially older models is very small over here so it is obvious that I will have to import from you guys. That should'nt become a problem as I am travelling to the US 4 to 6 times a year. But I will need your help:
I am not familiar with the K5-history but I guess, the models I am looking for are the early 70's and the 88/89 models. It would be great if you could give my a link to a side where I can study the different models and what has been changed in what model, sources where to search for my Chevy, what I have to consider, etc. Any help is highly appreciated.
And again - apologize for my english

hello

My name is Jake, ive lived in Humbodlt Kansas all 20 years of my life. I just picked up a '79 K10 for $375, runs and drives, but as the user name says, i need u joints lol.. this truck is loooosseee, but im working on it. I cant belive i got it for $375, the engine is a low milage rebuild, has rv cam, elelbrock intake & carb, runs excellent. 27 degrees out, went and started it right up and took off, no hesitation at all when cold even at full throttle. Some u joints, a twin stick setup for the np203, and possibly some hubs and im gona be flingin mud soon. Im very excited to finally get a truck, let alone a 4x4. All my buds have always owned chevy's and i loved them, but i just never bought one. Now when im partying out in the hay field i wont have to get a ride to it with some else :)
Anyway, i hope to learn a few things here and help where i can. I've already signed up at a few other truck forums but imho they are full of imature dickheads, so hopefully i will have better luck here.

New to the forum.

Greetings everyone.My name is Goss.
My gearhead friends meet in the garage as well, how appropiate!
I'm in northern Michigan and own a '72 K5 Blazer which I flog regularly on the trails around here. Also some really treacherous hills and off-camber stuff all of which lead directly to duck-**** like mud that gets deeper every year.
I keep a stockpile of 4x4 iron on hand and several projects in the works as well as wrenching on buddies' trucks.I think it's cooler than ice-fishing.
Never been to the desert or done any rockcrawling but trucks on jacks and knobs with tremendous ammounts of power are the best thing goin'.
I've broken almost everything you've ever heard of and wear a crash helmet when I wheel.Trucks don't fly but by god they bounce! I have a blast, how 'bout you? Ride-on.

Welcome:waytogo: It sounds like this is a great place for you! looking forward to checkin out your rig.

Hello.... 1981 K5

Hi all, I am sorta new to the K5 thing. I have a 1981 Chevy K5 with 6" spring lift and running 39" Michelin military tires (Photo is 38 super swampers). For power I'm running a new 383 stroker with a 770 Holley Truck Avenger carb, Hedman Headers with dual flowmasters to the rear... 383/350/208. Converted to 3/4 ton axles with a Dana 44 up front and a Corp 14 bolt rear with a disc brake conversion. Since the photo was taken I have added a custom expanded metal grill and a 12,000 Mile Marker winch. Dual optima batteries.
Currently having a custom rear bumper and rock sliders made for it. Looking to do a TH400/205 swap next.

My wife named my K5 the "Bee Wagon" for obvious reasons.

I like the truck but I think your next mod should be a couple of cans of black paint. What were you thinking?:doah:

What was I thinking

My brother already had a completly black K5 when I bought mine. It all started with the front winch bumper. I thought the caution stripes would look good. It got a little bit addicting. I like it though. Stands out in the woods too. If I go down the bank the chances of someone seeing me are a little better!!! :D
I just got some new tires today. I hope they work ok on it. 39" Michelin XZL's.

New Guy From Central MO

Whats up guys. Just stumbled upon this site hopefully looking for some ideas for my truck. I own an '89 Chevy Suburban 1500 4X4. It's got quite a few miles on it, and the engine blew last spring. i'm looking to fix it up this spring/summer, and got on here for some ideas maybe.
not many mods, just tires and a posi unit, but she did a great job off road until the block got cracked. looking forward to meeting some of the gear heads on here.
Timmy
