Are you using the factory skid for the fuel tank?
I don't have much of a choice this early in the build. I will use the '75??? skid plate that I have. May be next year I will be able to do something better.

Well so I believe that I got in a hurry when going over the engine last weekend.
I went immediately to looking in the cylinders for coolant leaks. I think that I posted about the rust damage in #3 and #7. I can catch my fingernail on the spot in #7. I plan to run it as I have too many things to buy right now.
Well today I started cleaning parts and discovered what I believe to be a crack in the head that was on the left side. I guess that I didn't see this before since it had rams horn style exhaust manifolds. Pictures are of it before and after buffing with a wire wheel. And the cylinders ...
I will probably take the head up the street 2 blocks and see what my machine shop guy says. This is between #5 And #7. The first pic is after I wiped it with brake clean on a rag.

And I took a picture of the deck surface, as I have never been able to pull heads off without a prybar before.
Bent and I have discussed this already this week...

And I want it made VERY CLEAR that I do not feel like @Bent77 could have done anything to prevent this. I know that he is concerned, and I have explained to him that used parts and trucks can have problems. I'm not buttering orange spice up here, just saying that shit happens, and I think that he is a hell of a guy for being concerned about something that he sold me several years ago.
And maybe this says something about that old K5 to have possibly 2 problems , and still just keep going!!!!!

And of course, now after talking about engine stuff with orange spice, I can't help but start wondering if I could afford an upgrade.......

The MAW's are a strong influence!!!!!!!

NO APOLOGY NECESSARY BUDDY!!!!!

Now, what heads were you referring to the other day????
:1zhelp: :D  :doah: :surepal:

Dang that sucks, knowing both of you I can see how one would not want to point fingers. Both are stand up guys and would do anything for someone.

Best of luck with the engine.

Thanks, remember that I got to play with it before I had problems, so all is great!
