What a minute! Since when did overkill become a thing to avoid on CK5?
I had that thought too...
THIS :thumb: and I've seen Bent's bumpers so I'm not sure I'd listen to him :rotfl:
And I am very glad that you said what we were ALL thinking!!
:haha:
Yeah, I think @6872xtc has his thought process backwards. You need to be talking to an expert in NOT bending things. :doah: :shame:
This could possibly be a very valid point!
I am not sure who that would be, @mrk5 already posted pics of his rocker sliders bent up into the doors, @skunked has bent things on his, as well as his skull, not sure who to listen to!

Stop using my name in vain!

Be a shame if your screen name got changed...
No it wouldn't be a shame at all! @6872xtc screen name makes no damn sense. I mean there was a body style of trucks that ran from 67 to 72, so that doesn't explain the 68. Is it meant to be read as six thousand eight hundred seventy two? But in that case what does the "xtc" mean? I assume it's meant to be short for ecstasy but maybe it's short for ex traffic cop? Extreme torque converter? Extreme transfer case?

So this is hairassment about my screen name is coming from the guy who doesn't own a K5 anymore, but his screen name says that he is the authority of K5's....
:haha:

Mine is simple. I got a '68 C10 back in high school, the front clip from that truck is on my '70 K10. I have always liked the '72s since my Dad bought one brand new. This is the one that my son now owns. I now own a '72 C10 as well. My Dad has a '69 C10 CST , too. So these trucks make me happy! (XTC) ...

I never really liked the '67 trucks , unless they had the panoramic rear window option. But you will never see me shave side markers off of a truck ,like a '67.

I did have a '72 extended cab project years ago. I had the frame stretched and the cab stretched, and gave up on it before I got very far into the sheetmetal work.

Coulda sworn the Jimmy this build covers is way outside the 68-72 range..... Or does that mean it doesn't make you happy?

Aren't you supposed to be working?
Your boss should keep a better eye on what you are up to.

Of course I like the '90! But no sense in adding more numbers to my screen name. I didn't have anything newer than the '72 for years, so they stuck with me.

I shouldn't harass you too much about it. I know that a couple feet of tube is REALLY expensive and the time it would take to weld in would be tremendous, not to mention the enormous added weight. So I can understand why you would not want to brace those sliders. Carry on.

At least his thread title is accurate

I'm not trying to be lazy or cheap. I just look at the fact that it is all 1/4" wall steel tube. I don't know how much it will take to bend it, but I think that it will take a bigger hit than the truck frame will handle. The ends are only 12" long and somewhat close to the tires in my view, so I don't know how much momentum could happen from the tire to the tube.

But even if I put a tube out to the ends, it would only be hooked to a piece of flat plate at the end of the mounting plate, and it would have to be firmly bolted to the truck to install it. The plates bow out slightly unless bolted to the truck frame.
