So I finally got a good payoff for all of the work!!!
Got it to BB19, even got there a day early. Went out and played on Metal Masher, pulled the front driveshaft apart while goosing it in double low, then had an old tired MTR start leaking just after that.
Then it ran the next 2 days on trails without any real problems!!!
:saweet:
I got my son to drive Saturday and we screwed around to really flex things in the wedgie. Just a couple of tweaks here and there. More slip in the front driveshaft, or possibly a limit strap, just tweak the front of the rear wheel well opening to eliminate the rub.
We never touched the front bumper, knocked the rear twice on the right, once on the left. We tried some things that I hadn't planned on.
We drained some windshield washer fluid out by standing it on the tail a couple of times! It will gravity flow out through the nozzles, down the cowl, to the rockers onto the rear tires...
:doah:
The PF4 did well honestly, it doesn't play well with a CB, it dies... but it worked well in spite of that. I plan on talking to Edelbrock about that.
I can adjust the idle easily if needed for double low stuff. No input for the A/C is not optimum.
I even leaned it out some after running down the interstate and not hearing any issues.
Of course. I found things that I want and need to do in the future.
I got my son and his girlfriend to come down to Moab and play too!
It drove home just fine! Intermittent wipers going, and just 68* according to the thermometer in the mirror. It was at 97* yesterday.

In the first pic "Great pic BTW" I see the steel roof buckle. Didn`t think they did that with the hard top bolted on.
Really like the looks of your Blazer!

My exhaust is black like a diesel, but last time I looked the plugs looked clean.

One of these days I would like to learn to tune a lot better and have a better understanding.

Yeah, I have listened to this one make popping sounds for years, even when it was stock. The first time I heard one do it, I was riding with @500$k5 . He smiled when I raised an eyebrow!

It's probably good for the most part. @500$k5 could tell you more if he drove it and played around with it. He's taught me a decent amount!

The only AFR I've tried messing with is the idle and it didn't like being leaned out. Ended up back at the default and it idles much better. Now I guess I'm a little reluctant to mess with it.

Leave the idle as is, and try stuff with the other ranges.

My old 78 would do that but only with the half top off...never twisted it up like you guys though.

So I bought wheels the other day after looking at my options and my wallet. I went with steel for the cost and the CYA factor if I make a rookie mistake and bend a bead. Cuz I am not an experienced driver off road in my opinion.
However, I don't like black wheels so I painted them.
Hopefully I will get tires soon and be done with the old ones.
I have been looking, thinking and discussing tires with @Bent77 and the rep at my local shop. The prices that the salesman is giving me has me mostly convinced to buy Toyo MTs. They are only a few dollars more per tire than Nittos, and he is lower than what I find online because of our business relationship.

I'm running those on my 78 and love them. Excellent on the street and really surprised me wheeling. Excellent choice.
Thanks for the feedback! I have had good luck with a couple of different Toyo sets, this is my first set of these though.

Shoulda done 40's
No.. remember that this was ONE of the reasons you called me old, my crappy left knee.
Would more tire and clearance be great? Absolutely! But considering where @500$k5 goes on 33's, I should be happy with these and the clearance that I get under these chubby axles.
:D

One more part of the eighties gone...

Well maybe. Or cold AF. I don't think Brad is coming up in February

Fix the driveshaft yet?
