I'm going to run some diamond plate the width of the frame-rails so I have somewhere clean to mount my fuel cell, spare tire (standing up with a strap pre-runner style), tool box, hi-lift, etc...
The idea behind all of this is to tube out the back but taper it all in so when I bolt the bedsides on it'll be dovetailed a good 8-12" on both sides which should eliminate a lot of the trail damage but I'll make the bedsides removable so if it's going to get gnarly down the road I can always pull them off and crash into the tube.

Ok I had some time tonight to mess around with it and it looks like I lucked out...
I flipped the springs (pushing my wheelbase out a couple inches) and by doing so it made my yoke land perfect without any shims so I'm pretty happy about that.
I set everything down on the rear end and man oh man is it soft...
I picked up my new rear brake line tonight after I got off work so it looks like the only stuff I need to get is u-bolts and have my d-shaft lengthened and I should be able to button it all up enough to move it. Then I'll make some shock hoops and measure for my limiting straps...

man, i would have loved to have had that bed!

avery those shackle flips do look cool just clear coated, i painted mine black and then painted the vertical piece up inside silver, it kinda looks like an optical illusion b/c they look all black when the silver reflects, but if you look just right u can tell just that piece is silver, but i'm diggin the industrial look...if i had saw this b4 i painted mine, i may have done the same thing they look sick...need some other parts that look that way to make it a ''theme''

Looks Good.Should settle out about level with some weight,ya think?Too soft?Anti wrap bar or something like that in your future or just run it and see?You could always add another spare if the ass end sits high.I always loved the look of a prerunner with 2 spares standing up in the bed.That ready for anything look.
I'm going to put a fuel cell and a toolbox along with my fullsize spare and hi-lift all out back so it should have a good bit of weight on it by the time I'm done.
We were talking about an anti-wrap bar last night at school and I think if I need one I'll just order the kit from Kert... some stuff is just worth buying and for the price it's hard to pass up.

I know! We were thinking it was going to sit lower in the rear for the time being but it looks like it's higher out back. I think once it settles a little and we get the rest of the weight on the rear it should sit close to level.
Ugh...the Cali rake...gag...the ONE thing I don't miss about the 4x4 scene in California. I can understand it on race trucks and even trucks built for the dunes like yours but common...ever single truck out there has it...even the guys with lame ass body lifted 2wd's and 31's found a way to do it.

I had my '92 K1500 Blazer lifted when I lived in San Diego. I told them explicitly LEVEL or slightly nose down. I somehow ended up with the Cali-rake...I took it back to the shop twice for suspension work and both times they managed to still not fix it like I originally wanted it. I think they were all so off kilter from lifting all of those trucks nose high that the inch that bothered me seemed level to them.

Looks like it all worked out after flipping those springs. It will settle, those babies are soft.

We were talking about my rake (which isn't as bad as the pics make it look... plus the driveway has a pretty good incline to it) and I think once I get my fullsize spare, hi-lift, fuel cell and tool box full of tools it'll level out.
I took my d-shaft to a shop this evening before my night class and asked about lengthening it a couple inches and they wanted $150 so I didn't do it... I'm going to take it to work tomorrow and cut one end off, put a sleeve on and weld it back together to get me a couple inches so I can at least get it back in and hit the RTI ramp so I can measure for shock mounts, bump stops and limiting straps.
A local industrial supply shop is making my new u-bolts and they should be done tomorrow so it looks like I'll be able to get it buttoned up by the weekend.

I'd like to do another set of "beater skins" to be able to throw on my blazer as well. Dragging tube is smooth and quiet... theres nothing like the sound of dragging sheetmetal.

Yeah Chris is going to help with the tube... Go hit up the junk yard and get a new set of skins, there's plenty at the Pick-N'-Pull here in Fresno.
I've looked at the way you mounted your skins to the tube a few times and I tried to take a mental note when we were in Pismo last year but I never asked where you got them... what were they originally for?
