Wow, I really hate you west coast guys :D Rust free trucks and sand box's like that to play in.!!!!! (Yes I am VERY JEALOUS!!)

Oh, I really like how your truck is coming out :waytogo:

wow, thats pretty awesome. Two things I would like to experience is deep snow and lots of sand like that. Not sure that I would want to live there, kinda like mild climates for most of the year but it sure would be fun to play in it at least once.

Looking good Avery. You need to put the anti-wrap bar on the "do it now" list rather than the "we'll see if I need it" list. With the springs turned long side forward, there is no we'll see. You need a traction bar to keep from ruining those springs. I went through a set of backwards 56's, in under 5 miles. The truck never even left my yard!

I am so jealous of you Avery. I would love to have something like that around here.

I only get to play in the sand 300' at a time.

Hahahahahahahaha...we have the Silver Lake dunes a few hours south of me on the Lake Michigan shorelines. Guys always are confused when I laugh about how "great" the place is. The rest stops near Pismo are bigger than Silver Lake...

I picked up my new u-bolts tonight and managed to sleeve my existing driveshaft out a couple inches so I can at least drive it up on a trailer this weekend and hit the RTI ramp to take some measurments for bump stops, shocks, straps, etc...

I have class tonight so no progress but I should have it moving tomorrow evening.

Where is this RTI ramp you speak of??
I talked to Chris and we're going to head over to Noel's place...

Is that my blazer there?
BTW, You are doing a nice job.
What are you going to do about shocks?
If would be awsome if you put some Foxs on the back.

Yep that's your blazer from last July! :D
I have some Bilstein 5125's for the rear. I'm going to make some hoops to bolt to the frame, they're 14" so I should be able to do something in the area of 5" up and 9" down (but we'll have to see where things sit once we flex it out).

Well guys I took it for a spin around the block tonight and everything went great so it looks like we're getting close.
I hooked up my new extended brake-line, got my u-bolts torqued down and got my temp. d-shaft in.
For the d-shaft I chucked the slip yoke and steady-rested the tube on the other end... I parted out the old weld and then parted down the seam until it cracked loose...
I machined a little spacer out of some 3" tubing. One end pressed into the existing tubing and the other end pressed over the stub on the yoke... I tacked it together then ran the indicator on it and tapped it around until it was running within .005" then welded a bead all around.
It's not permanent but it should work for now to get some numbers then I'll order up a full length of tube and make it out of one piece....

Anyways here's a couple pics...

Yeah that'd be fun for a couple of jumps but then everything would be busted... it takes a lot of $$$ to jump all weekend and come back in one piece.
Coils, air bumps, trusses and lots of bracing would be nice but for now I think this setup will let me have some fun.

I've seen this guy a few times out in the dunes and it flat gets with it... maybe someday :)

WOW I seen that guy in utahs little shara a few years ago, at least it looks familure.

Theres a dude I have seen at sand mountain lots of times with a 1st gen blazer (well the front fenders and firewalll anyway, the rest is tube.) sounds like a big block and a pissed off one at that! anyway that thing gets around the dunes almost as well as the buggys and rails.

Sand is a blast to play in but big power and high dollar suspention cost alot. Even if you just play on quads. One of my friends has right around $5000 worth of suspention and power upgrades on his yamaha 450 quad

We took the k10 out to Dozer's place today and flexed it out on the RTI ramp to get some measurements for my bump stops, shocks and straps... I got to ride in the buggy too which was pretty sweet...

so who ended up getting dozers buggy when he passed?i see the dually blazer is still around.did you not back up on it?is that a 20 ir 30 degree ramp

It's in the family... I'll have to ask Chris on the ramp I'm not sure what it was.
No I didn't back up it, I was able to get all the info I needed as it sat in the pictures. The front doesn't flex much so I just needed to see how much compression and droop I wanted to set it up with as well as check to make sure my d-shaft didn't pull out or bottom out in the TC.
