K10 Back-half Revamp! **posted wheelin' pics**

yeah that looks a little dangerous. We need a vendor to supply a brace to stop that from happening.:haha:

It's not just the rear crossmember you have to worry about, cracks near the steering box are also quite common. Here's a bad one:

Looks like you already have the v-notch, just weld that sucker up!

Avery I am very curious to know how you feel about your rear shock placment.

You may or may or may not have seen my crew cab build in my blog on here. But with only 4 foot of bed and a fuel tank in the frame rails I dont think I have any other choice but to put the shocks where you have yours. It will be a while before mine is even drivable so give it some time and let me know how you are liking them there.

I may do ford towers same as you or I might just build shock hoops I havent gotten that far yet. I still am unsure of exactly how I will end up doing my bed, but fairly sure it wont be tube.

I'll let you know what I think after we get everything finished and I get some time behind the wheel. This saturday we have a little day run up to the mountains so I'll see how it does.

This afternoon between studying for my finals I had time to pull off the steps (I figure they'll just get hung up and tear my rockers apart and we're going to do sliders in the near future anyways)... and I FINALLY got the stupid power steering belt tight enough where it wouldn't squeak.
I put my breaker bar from the core support to the area just below the windshield and hooked a ratchet strap to the bar and the other end to the bracket on the power steering pump and snugged it up... that way it held it in place while I could tighten everything up which I think was my problem before.
Anyways no more squeaks! :)

wikipedia said:
A dance belt is the most common name for a kind of specialized functional thong undergarment which is generally worn by male ballet dancers to support their genitalia because various choreographic moves could otherwise produce pain or possibly even injury to the groin parts, and body-hugging costumes would otherwise reveal the genitals.
The dance belt is designed to snuggly support in particular the testes away from the exceedingly painful and potentially injurious squeezing pressure that could otherwise result from the wearer's inner thighs coming into contact with the male anatomy during certain rapid dance movements, for example scissor-like motions of the legs. Both this physical and the visual considerations can potentially detract from the male dancer's performance.

:haha: :haha: :haha:

Jeesh...I go and look up the Sam Browne Belt. colby looks up some foo foo dance belt underwear thing...

For the sake of an update here's some pics and a crappy video from tonight after work...
I ground the rivets out on the bump stop brackets since I need to relocate them back on the frame to line up with the rear end...

Also what do you guys think about my exhaust? I had to cut the fourth hangar since it was attached to the bump stop bracket. Hopefully you can see in the pictures but it has one by the back of the cab and two on the muffler... think it'll be ok? It doesn't flop around but if you grab the end of the pipe you can wiggle it back and forth a smidgen...

I think it looks better without the steps...

The spray paint for BBQ's high heat black holds up pretty good on exhaust. Just FYI  I mean since its just hangng out there distracting from the rest of the truck.

You're not the first one to knock my rusty exhaust... it's my Pismo rust! :)

One day when I feel adventurous I'll suit up and hit the whole thing with a wire wheel then paint it.... for now it'll just be rusty.
I'd like to get a stainless muffler and pipe put in eventually but I don't want to spend money on stuff like that until the rest of the truck is done.

Hey, this truck is amazing man. I'm in the process of doing a frame off resto on my k5 ( I have the body sitting on some big beams in the driveway and I'm gonna start sandblasting this weekend) . I'm going to sandblast and rust bullet the frame. But I was wondering what paint you used on your frame? It looks good. If you did paint it, thanks.

Should be ok but a few more hangers by or on the muffler wouldn't hurt... Those cases are pretty thin and I could see it cracking at the welds after a while.
