K10: Built HP60/241-205 Doubler/tons of tube

Avery4jc;3115942 The headers are going. I'm on the lookout for stock rear exit manifolds or some shorter headers. I would have major driveshaft clearance issues the way its run right now.[/quote said:
Search back through my burb build, or posts from me with Scott's input.

He recommended a set of Flowtech shorty headers for a 92-95 truck, and they fit on mine with no custom work. Plug the O2 port, grind off, and go.

Scott's set fit with minor trim at frame.

For $250 + good gaskets + y pipe, its not a bad way to go, and you don't have to go back to manifolds.

Headman Elites are reasonably priced for a quality header and fit very well. Mine don't really go any lower than the frame. Do a search there's a big thread on which P/N fit which combos/years.

I'll check it out. There's a set of flowtech shorty headers for a nova on the local Craigslist right now that are brand new and he said just make an offer. I'm tempted to go check them out. They're so compact I can't visualize anything that they'd hit.

That's good info, mine hang waaay below the frame. The problem with header fittament threads is I know what fits stock but not too many threads on what fits with a high pinion. If this was a low pinion axle I could just leave what I have and be ok.

I got the steering all setup and done tonight. I trimmed the tubing, welded in the inserts and got it all painted and adjusted. I turned it lock to lock by hand without the truck running and it's smooth with no bind. I'm sure I'll have to give part of the factory crossmember a little trim but I'll figure that out once I get the truck running and can go flex it out.

Picked up some u-bolts on the way home from work to get the rear locked down so I can take it off the big jackstands and start getting the shocks and traction bar back in tomorrow.
Also been scraping together cash to place one of the last hefty orders for this build and got that taken care of tonight as well. So the 4340 inner shafts and spicer joints should be here wednesday so the front end can go back together after work later in the week.

So this weekend I guess it's getting the traction bar and shocks in with the rear u-bolts. Then yank the headers since I know they won't work and need to be replaced with something and then get back on the doubler linkage. I keep getting distracted from that and it's going to come back to bite me time wise I just know it. :)

Wasted a bunch of time this morning at the metal yard, they were really backed up and only had two guys grabbing stuff. Came home and whipped up what I hope is going to help with an on-going spring problem. My leaves like to twist out of shape and I saw kert do something like this (much fancier but same idea) and I liked it so I stole it.

Got the 14 bolt bolted back down so now it's officially back on it's own axles. :)

I have to go take care of some stuff this afternoon but tonight my plan is to get the traction bar back in and work on the upper shock mounts.

Looking good! Do you have any trips lined up for a tentative "completion" date?

We have reservations for Pismo at the end of July but I hope to be done a couple weeks before that. When I get it done I'm running up to a little trail called bald to work the bugs out.

You have done nice work!
Are you going to put the box sides on this year?

Yeah I might get to that this summer. I need to pull the fuel cell and finish the cage behind the cab before I mess with getting the sides mounted though.
I'm still trying to figure out what method I want to use to pass into the cab to tie the interior to the exterior. Right now I'm leaning towards some plates sandwiched around the cab and bolted through.

What dates?

We'll be there 22-25th...

Maybe we could meet up at the Dunes,
and drink a beer, or drive too damn fast, or somethin'. :dunno:

I'll be there the 25th through the 29th. Should be showing up in the afternoon on the 25th so maybe that evening we could meet up. You leaving early on the 25th?
