Might as well start with the UAV

Started with a clean 4 year old 1990 K5 back in 1994

uav-start.jpg

Built it up a little, still nice daily driver

yakima2.jpg

Built it up a little more, still could be used as daily driver

update5.jpg

Started to get a little dented along the way

waterfall.jpg

And now it is narrower than a Jeep TJ and is a trailer queen

As I bought her in 1993. 1 1973 Blazer, only mod was 31" tires.

K5_1STBought.sized.jpg

Added 14Bolt, 8lug D44 front knuckles, 2.5" Skyjacker lift, new 33" tires/wheels, and soft top.

K5_WheelingBeforeTearDown.sized.jpg

The Cancer was getting too bad and the engine was on it's last legs. Had new job and big plans (1998). Full Frame-off begins....

K5_BeginTeardown.sized.jpg

Sandblasted, welded up steering area and rear-shock area. Partially Imroned....

K5_Frame.sized.jpg

Full US Body Fiberglass body, and many many other mod, pre-assembly complete. 2nd full teardown beings...

H2_Wholetruck_Small.sized.jpg

Back from Complete body line-x, cage, body installed. Final assembly is under way (and continuing!)

As I bought it when I was 15, first truck. Stock on 33's.
blazer1_001.jpg

Put on a 4" lift and some new 35's.
Blazer.jpg

Started doing some heavy crawlin and decided the old axles didnt work.
So 3/4 tons I went. 14bff rear, detroit, 4.88's. 8lug 10b front 4.88's, lockright. Also added in a rear shackle flip and 56's while I was at it.
100_0269.sized.jpg

Old axles didnt cut it so I went to new axles. D60 front, 14bff rear. 5.13's with a welded front and a detroit out back. Couldnt steer so I went to crossover/hydro assist. Starting to go to the dark side:D
100_1308.sized.jpg

Got a new tow rig and aw' hell broke loose. Chopped the top and fixing to go tubin along.
100_1323.sized.jpg

Got some new 42's and went to 52's and a zero rate up front. this is basically how it sits. Next weekend I will be making a new cage. I gutted out the interior and will be re-wiring the truck. Also have a propane system I need to put in.
I will also be tubing it front and rear while cutting 8" off the sides of the firewall to make the overall width 63".

Mine's not a K5, but I'll play :D

Bought in July 04 from a guy in Western MT who races mud.

normal_beast1.jpg

It had 12" of suspension lift, 3" body lift, big-azz ugly bumpers, and stock-style front-to-back steering with horrible geometry.

After Nearly tipping it several times on a snowy trail ride in March of this year
normal_p1010004.jpg

I decided to lower it. Since the truck sees mainly trails, and can be a trailer queen, I went for extreme flex.

I put stock height 52" springs up front, stock height 56's in the back w/ a DIY4x shackle flip and crossover steering. I left the 3" body lift, and hacked the fenders to clear the 38.5's. I then bought some custom-built bumpers from a semi-local member on here, that are much more approach & departure angle friendly

This is what I ended up with:

I'm planning a half-top over the front half of the bed so I have sheltered area to keep my tools and a comfy place for the dog to sit. A D60 will come when I blow the 10 bolt up front (I know it's inevitable)

Bought it two years ago. Had a 2.5 inch lift and a trashed engine.

16484Blazerjpg.jpg

So, rebuilt the engine and started to fix all the issues - PO was not a mechanic.... an example being the battery had a sheet metal screw through the strap to hold it in place on top of all the wood that it was sitting on. :doah:

Here it is on 33's last fall:
1648433Blazer.jpg

This last summer I swapped in a 14 bolt that I shaved, with a solid Yukon spool, a eight lug Dana 44, six inch BDS lift and 35 inch Boggers. This is how it sits now:

16484100_0693.jpg

I am getting the parts together to rebuild a Dana 60 right now that will go in this spring... ORD high steer/crossover (Merry Christmas to me day before yesterday :D ), probably a Detroit, and 5:13's. Hopefully build a cage and a rear bumper/tire carrier as well. After that.... well the list is long and even more expensive.

I bought it 3 years ago and this is how it looked.

I dented the rear quarters aft of the wheel wells and had to trim them and this is how it looks now.
14653P1010024.JPG

:haha: :haha:

I got a 60 and 14FF with 37s that will be going in next weekend. I will post up when I get that done.

Also not a k5 but its come along way. I dont have any original pics but it was 10 colors and completely stock except for some 33's the first pic is after its painted (rustoleum semigloss black) and 36's. at this point i had put in the new dash, bucket seats, the lt1 a stereo no lift and no swaybar and a lil trimming. the rest are how it sits now, 4" tc's up front, shackle flip in the back, extended shackles and a zero rate pushing the axles 1.5" forward, 14bff detroit, broken 10 bolt and still those crappy 36" hummers:D I do have more photos and they are all in my gallery

thanks, i built it outta 1x1 steel tube and 1/16" aluminum diamond plate. the gauge plate is made of 1/8" flat stock

The day I brought my first K5 home(16 years old didn't even have my license yet) 1984 K5, 305, SM465, 10 bolts and cheap 33s with an add a leaf in the rear and no front lift.
84home.jpg

Dad and I did a bunch of body work and painted it(mostly Dad).

Beat it a while:

Decided to build a sick Daily driver / trail rig:
trimmed_k5.JPG

Went crazy and did what I'm probably best known for, changed my mind every 5 minutes about what direction the project was going. Aka chopped it up for a truggy project that enver got off the ground.
truggy.jpg

Got another K5 that I should have kept but gave up on as well:
four.jpg

Took this "Blazer":
s10.jpg

And made this:
tow1004.jpg

Won't be long until my trailer queen S10 Blazer project is complete :D

Haha, straight outta the Pirate thread.

Started with a '93 that I turned into a mall crawler and realized that I'd never do any real wheeling with it for fear of scratching the paint:
215370_84_full1.jpg

Kept the '93 as a DD and bought an '89 that I thought was in pretty decent shape:
Picture0071.jpg

Swapped in a 60/14 combo, hacked the fenders, and put on 39.5's:
Picture0241.jpg

Took it to one mud race and then decided I wanted to dovetail it:
SUC50058.jpg

Realized how bad of shape the body and frame are really in and proceeded to break it to pieces:
SUC50086.jpg

I now own an '84 Toy frame that I'm gonna swap all my junk into and make a truggy out of.

That Dash is awesome! That's some bling that I think anyone in here would be proud to have in their rig :bow::bow::bow::bow:

Hmm.....started out with this.....

BigOrange.jpg

Life was good with this, but soon the lack of maintenance caught up with it. Here's a shot of the lack of maintenance.

Time for Stage II. Enter the contender.

52185oh2.jpg

73 K20. Severe cancer patient. Had to put her down.....but before that, we gave her one last run of glory!

5218K20pimps1.jpg

These two vehicles mated.....as well as the one above.

5218snowpic.jpg

After an extended shortage on income, my projects had to be put on hold. Meanwhile, I drove and killed this thing.

5218thezuk.jpg

I did get make a run with some of the guys of CK5 at Uhwarrie. I believe I broke some of their hearts though when I followed them everywhere.

ashzuk4.jpg

Once I got my funds going again, I started back into making my hybrid mix of random vehicles in the yard. K5 chassis, meet 73 K20 and 85 C10.

5218beater2.jpg

This oughta be good.

5218beatercab.jpg

I give, to you, the "Beater Truck".

5218Beater3.jpg

It's got a few secrets hidden away....mostly dealing with the ignition.

5218DCP_0534.JPG

Stay tuned in the next week or two for the finished product, and FINALLY SOME WHEELING SHOTS!!!! Before that though, I'll probably narrow the front clip and possibly boatside it. Then, when I come back to Boone, it's getting some tube work.

Here is my 72 Jimmy, I got it feb 05. I was going to just fix the tcase adapter, and rewire it...........next thing you know:eek1: the whole thing is apart. My wife said "That thing will never run again", she set a deadline of Sept 1 2006. So that is my blank check:D

Here it is the night after my first stuck. Was side ways in a ditch up to the mud line. Notice the nice fender rot around the wheel wells.
