1/2 ton status
Here is my '84 Silverado as I bought it in August of 2002. Prescott (77mudbuddy) took this pic for me about 5 minutes before we started installing the first lift.
Here it is after the 4 inch ProComp all spring lift, new shocks, and some new 33's.
It didn't take long for me to wish I had bigger tires, so I found some cheap 35's and sold the 33's. Here I also had removed the front bumper and grill guard.
I installed a 2 inch body lift hoping to gain some clearance to one day raise the tcase/tranny and possibly the motor, so I could get a flat under-belly. I also removed the rear bumper and cut off the low hanging fenders. I also screwed my tranny pretty good (after running it all day at the Slab at about 4 quarts low on tranny fluid
so I bought a level 3 700r4 from Bowtie Overdrives.

This is about the time I started getting a bit more serious. I bought a CUCV for the axles. So all at once out went the 1/2 ton axles, and the rear 4 inch springs in favor of a home brew shackle flip and some 56 inch CUCV springs, and the CUCV tailgate got installed on the blazer. The springs went in backwards to push the rear axle back 4 inches. I got some hummer rims and modified them for 4 1/2 inch backspacing and ran the 36 inch hummer tires for a while. I also installed a West Texas Off-Road hydro assist system on top of a new ORD crossover setup. [2nd pic taken at the Slab]
I found a buyer for the now 1/2 ton CUCV and with the cash I bought myself some new 42 inch TSL's and some 15 inch travel ProComp ES9000 shocks. Russell (txbluethunder) hooked me up with a hand-me-down rear shock mount and I bought a couple F250 shock towers for the front. I couldn't have my sheetmetal making a mess of my new rubber, so out came the sawzall again and off came the excess sheetmetal around the wheel openings. I also took the time during this round of changes to swap out the front 4 inch springs for my stock 52 inch rears pushing the front axle forward 2 inches. I made some new front shackles and moved the shackle mount in the frame to make some massive droop. A new detroit up front and most recently a 35 spline upgrade with some drive flanges to complete the package.
