Lifted crew cab dually. C to K conversion.

the shackle laying back hitting the frame (isnt good which you know) will only make the caster BETTER if you fix the angle and dont shim the front the angle will be worst..

think of it as the farther foward the shaclkle is towards the front of the truck the more the axle rotates pussing the pinion down resulting is bad caster...shims should fix all that right up though

I'm gonna try a 6" shackle. If that dont fix it I'll have to move the hanger and start shimming. I dont want the front to go up much higher though.

hopefully be able to drive it this weekend. Couple good long days and it should be good.

anyone have a good idea of what gears to go with. I will be running something in the ballpark of 35"X10.5". Its got a 454 and TH400. I want it to still have the low end power to tow.

How fast do you want it to go?

4.56's would give you plenty of grunt but you'd be whizzing it along at anything over 60. 4.10's would give you better freeway rpm's.

60-70 tops, minimal highway.

If I go 4.56 I can use my detroit in the front and Ill only have to regear the rear.

Brian,

Your neighbors must be pretty cool to let you work in the street like that and not complain. In some neighborhoods, Code Enforcement would be show up the instant a floor jack hit the underside of the truck.....

Looks like you're going to get a perfect weather day today (Sunday), I'll expect to see some nice progress shots later on. :waytogo:

:usaflag:

Yeah its a small little dead end. Theres only that one house behind the truck. I sweep up and put my tools away everyday. And respect the noise issue. Although now I can never complain about anything they do.

I see you've been busy, its looking good. Are you gonna DD this thing or just use it to tow the monster truck?

Got everything finished up last night. 6" front shackle seems to have done the trick. Just need to install the fuel pump, test it out, tighten it up and put the bed on. Oh yeah, I also got some big bull horns off eebay. I'll get some pics up when it is rolling.

so everything is set to go...and the godam fuel pump pushrod gets stuck in the block. Its not grinding on the cam so instead of messin with I'm just gonna throw in an electric setup. Ive searched and found that a carter pump mounted low next to the tank switch is good. More work, cant stop now.

Got the bed on though.

I would almost consider leaving those tires on, I think it looks kinda cool like that

LOL I do too..!! But I didnt want to say any thing and be
seen weirder than I already am. ;)
Or maybe just a size or 2 bigger.

Hate to say it cause I dont know where to get it but I think the back needs to go up a tad. Anybody see that? Maybe the front will settle a bit...

looks awesome..........

i'd let it pound around for a while and see how it sets down when you park in different locations.

I think it may be a trick of the pictures, more than it sitting low in the back. It looks like it is pretty level to me, but I can see the pictures making it look a bit off.

255/85R16's are pretty popular with the dually crowd. Works out to a tall 33x10ishR16.

i tryed 2 255/85/16 on stock rims on my truck 1 time. 1/4" gap weight on it. but would def rub with big load on truck.
