Correct on the tube diameter dimension. I vote 14B because cool factor! Although rear steer 80 would be fun
I have a good Dana 80, the problem with that is the price of lockers and gears... but if I find a good deal on something, maybe.
The only difference in the lockers for the Dana 70HD and the Dana 80 is usually just the size of the ring gear bolt holes. Just drill the holes out.
Really? Isn’t the 80 a bigger ring gear? Otherwise no need to upgrade to one.
Yes. Bigger ring gear but same indexing ring and ring gear bolt pattern. ARB started just making one locker that fits both. I believe the instructions tell you to drill it out if using a Dana 80.
Dana 80 is a lot stronger than a Dana 70 or a 10.5" 14 bolt.
The problem will be that the Dana 80 tubes are 4" and the aftermarket Dana 60 inner C's are not really supposed to be bored out to 4". The 2005 and up Ford knuckles are better suited for that. They are about 3.75" ID. You can get the knuckles from a 2wd F450 or F550 cheap. The factory shafts for the 4X4 F450, F550 and about 2016 and newer are 35 spline on both ends and have 1550 u-joints. The are available as an assembly (inner, outer and u-joint) for really cheap. The F450 and F550 knuckles are way stouter than the kingpin 60.
