linked one ton escalade (coming back soon)

Now that I probably won’t have a place to store or work on the Escalade, or even a tow vehicle for a while. I wish I would’ve built something more towards expedition wheeling. Which got me thinking... I have a 4 door JK frame and 2 bodies, superduty axles with swap trusses, rock crawler long arm brackets. I think something similar to the picture with a 4 cylinder 3.9 common rail Cummins and Allison 1000 out of a breadvan, which I could find for under $2000 would be an awesome bulletproof camping rig.

Obviously I have no time or place to build it, but tell me it wouldn’t be cool. We had thought about buying an m1010 squarebody to build something similar last year, wish I would’ve and sold our rubicon then.

Good grief an Allison 1000 in a jk? That thing would have a trans tunnel like a H1 Humvee. I'm certain of all people you could squeeze it in there.

Other than that a jeep like that is pretty cool.

I honestly didn’t even think about that, but I don’t believe it’s much larger than like a 6l90? And that’s a pretty common swap in Jks behind like an ls3.

Plus that’s already behind the Cummins.

I know there was a JK truck conversion on eBay a year or two ago that had that exact drivetrain and 1 ton axles. Went for like 110k.

So I was daily driving my JK for a while then took it to Nebraska and got my Acura, the car is a pile. A friend has a manual LJ Rubicon for sale. For a good price. I would be a lot of money ahead selling my Acura and JK and have pretty much the holy grail of Jeeps to daily(so I’ve heard from Jeep people). Probably be a while before I get the car and Jeep sold but shouldn’t be a problem. So any reason I shouldn’t?

LJ's are way better than JK's in my opinion. 4.0L is more torquey than the 3.8 or 3.6 ever would be unless you stuck a turbo or blower on it. Little to no electic nannies pulling BS on you like limiting speed to 10mph with it in 4lo. It's a much more simple platform than the JK's so much less to go wrong too.

If I had a choice between an LJ and JK I'd go LJ. You'd have way more room for gear than a standard TJ, longer wheelbase for a better ride and driveshaft length and angle to the rear isn't nearly as extreme as the shorty.

The best part is the fiancé is on board. Would probably leave it almost completely stock for quite a while.

He sent me pictures last night, it has some rust, but I should be able to fix most of it easy, So I told him I would take it. He said someone was almost there to look at it. This morning he texted me and that persons wife said no. So I’m goin to get it Saturday morning. Kind of excited

Is the rust on the frame? If so, ART makes all the patch panels and everything. We bought a TJ a few months ago that needed a front frame piece near the steering box, and sold it literally for ten times more than what we paid for it....

That’s the first thing I asked, luckily the frame is solid. Just front fenders and around the rear wheel well, fenders will get changed eventually an minor body work on the rear.
