linked one ton escalade (coming back soon)

I realized I would be dumb to not just listen to what the smarter people told me to do :D

as of right now this is my plan for the next 4 tubes, these should be pretty straight forward other than the long notch on the rear most tube

I could’ve made the X cross at the C Pilar, but I think this covers the occupants a little better

I'm no cage expert but do three "X"s one in each square. Also be sure to cover any glass that could get spatter on it.

I’m no cage expert either. But I find myself learning from this thread. It’s all about triangulation. Multiple cross, or x patterns in the roof will give you the strength you are looking for. extra work pays off.

again, I’m watching and learning here myself. This is one of my favorite rigs to watch on this forum.

I’m going to be doing trails I’ve done without a cage, I don’t want to add a ton of weight to the top of a 7500lb vehicle. I feel like this is more than plenty for a trail rig? But I could be completely wrong, I’ve never had a cage in any rig before other than stock Jeep cages.

I could do what is in red instead though?7D21FBA1-43FE-4789-AEAD-B26434083940.jpeg

dont worry, the windshield is getting covered before any welding, I just had it put in so I could weld the A pillars over it haha

Got my Dana 80 pucks back from the machine shop across the street, outside measurement was dead on, but the inside was about .060 too small to slid on the bar, i was going to barrel sand them out but quickly found out that would take forever. I found a countersink bit that was exactly 1.25 and put it in the drill press and clamped them down and drilled them out

it surprisingly worked really well and they fit pretty tight, now I just need to get the axle back down sometime and see how straight it is or if I need to straighten it and then start on the truss design and welding the C’s on.

well now we can stop stressing about the house stuff. We got moved in on the 30th, had our first small party on the 4th and have only had minor problems with the house, luckily the builders and contractors are all still building houses and will be for a few more months so they get stuff fixed quick

I guess I was wrong about the aluminum pucks being dead on for the outside diameter, they were a little small, but 1 wrap or black tape worked. Put the alignment bar in the rear one and it’s pretty close to perfect, good enough to start making a truss. Then finally got the brand new Front housing out to set next to the rear.

crazy how much bigger 05+ ford C’s are versus the aftermarket ones. Definitely will be needing to gusset the front C’s, probably bottom and tie the top into the truss.

Sold the LJ today also. Which would go a long way on Escalade parts... but Christmas light season is starting soon because we got more work than we were expecting. So all the LJ money is going to debt and looks like I’ll just be collecting parts for the Escalade until March now.

Is it coming back to Nebraska? I'm glad you sold it, so I didn't have to buy it back.

I will make a build thread for it tonight maybe. It is beautifully clean. I have big plans. The box is going to be removed though, and it is the nicest squarebody dually box I’ve ever seen. So if anyone is looking...
