I hate that feeling to and Mother Nature sure has a way of reminding you how little you can be..
I prepare as best I can, I have 50 gallons of purified water, plus the little emergency baggies of water just in case, and emergency kit the 5 gallon kind with misc supplies, 25 lbs of rice, horses, a friend with a well, another friend with water if you dig, and a truck with no electronics, and a gun to fight my way to a bigger gun should the zombies flood town..
We had a 6.0 here with at least 10 after shakes about a year ago. I've honestly never been that scared in my life except when I got between an injured deer and a bear in the night.
It was like having a car drive through the house. I remember being out of bed before I came too and dragging the dog outside as the house clapped it's way through. I thought I was being lowered into hell or something.
I really hate the feeling of being helpless.
My neighbors house is about 8 feet up on stilts at that time. I went to see if he was OK and he said he slipped on aunt Jemima and was covered in pancake syrup haha!
My house was built in 1924 so she's battle tested and strong boned!

Not in the bay for the 89? That focker was a roller coaster!
I know I'm going to make everyone feel old as hell but I was in the over during that quake...
Damn kids. That was a good one.
We played football in the aftershakes, I was 9 years old.
@bmxbryant9 he wants a 5 speed for a little more freeway speed.
Screw that.. I saw the fissures in landers, my uncle had a house off Reche rd.. Literally miles from the epicenter.. No thanks.
