lq9 swap questions

which motor do you guys think

  • LQ9 cadillac 6.0L low end cost is $900 100k and up

If you can't scrape together $25.00 for a membership, how will you be able to afford a camshaft, ECM reprogram, adaptors or even motoroil for your prodject?
I understand that your just doing research for a future project but,the biggest thing you need to find is the funding.

I was wondering the same. I know you hear of people doing a 5.3 or 6.0 swap for cheap but most don't and it goes way over budget
 
well my budget is pretty tight right now so when it comes to buying parts all my money goes to that. i really need to become a member but when it comes to buying parts for my truck or paying for member ship fee all my money goes to parts. as soon as i get some extra money ill be a member just not right now lol
 
If you look at the 25 as parts then it's no problem. There's a great writeup in the tech articles I guarantee is worth the 25 alone.
 
For only $2.08 a month you can read as well as see the tricks and problems we all went through and maybe learn from it.
 
alright guys i know i need to join but i dont have money right now but soon i will.

i know you need to run a electric fuel pump for this but can you use the old stlye fuel tank or do you need a new tbi tank or anthing like that.

I am running my stock tank with just the sending unit swapped out, it is good enough for the start, i will be swapping mine out someday for one with a baffle because when i get low on gas it starves my fuel pump sometimes so i just have to keep the tank filled up
 
i just looked on ebay if anyone is curious and if you search 1995 silverado fuel tank they come up with a 34 gallon stock replacment for like 50 bucks seems to good to be true but there on there
 
ok quick question, ive been reading about ls intake swaps on the lq4 and lq9 and see if i got this right. first you have to put the ls intake on and the injectors for a ls intake on and the fuel rails. then you have to get a diffrent water pump for it (not sure which one thow) and the bracket that they sell to relocate the idler pulley i think it is, i know dirty dingo sells it. after all this is on can you just get a basic tune for the motor or do you have to get dyno tuned for it to run right.

With the swapping of the intake and injectors you can get close with the tune with out dyno tuning. Every engine even stock ones can see gains from actual dyno tuning, every engine is a little bit different with respect to manufacturing tollerences.
 
so would using the computer for a lq9 truck engine on a lq9 engine with a ls series intake and injectors work. this is with the computer already reflashed and wiring harness setup for running in a old truck. and i mean like would it run without hurting the engine any or doing any kind of damage in the long run running it not properly tuned for a ls intake and injector

if you tell the person doing your reflash what you are changing and they are any good at programing it should be fine. You just have to make sure whoever does the reflash has a good reputation.
 
Maybe this has been asked before but why swap the intakes if the "truck" intake will fit under the hood?
 
me im just doing it for the look to be honest, ive read somethings about them making more power but i dont think thats true. i just wanted it so i could run those corvette engine covers on my engine just for kicks and giggles haha
