which motor do you guys think

  • LQ9 cadillac 6.0L low end cost is $900 100k and up

hey guys whats up, i was thinking in class today about my swap and im wondering if you could swap the serpentine setup from a TBI or a late model vortec 350 on to a ls stlye engine. it would make the a/c and stuff alot easier to work on. im just thinking out loud here.

NO nothing from anything other than the new Gen 3 engines fits them they are completly different than any prev eng design. And 10X better.
Your best bet is to go to LS1Tech.com that is where you will find ALL the answers. My truck is drive by wire and I mated the 72 pedal to the electric pedal for a nice factory look. and I have crusie controll and every other friggin thing the newer trucks came with. But im just crazy like that =)

since I cant have a sig my truck is a 1972 blazer w a duramax allison twin turbod makes 505 hp and 1109 ft lbs tq and runs 12's =)
 
yea i was just thinking out loud with that, wait a second are you the guy that that has a video at a race track 4 wheel launching against some guy who never expected it from a old blazer.

hehe if you just read as much as you can about the LS engines and are any good with electrical its not that hard
the factory ls harness is really easy to make stand allone.
and go buy your own EFI live program or HP tuners ( this info is at EFILIVE.com or HPtuners.com)
 
hahah i love that video dude. ok me and my roomate are in a aruement over wether a old truck lifted on 38's could go over a 100mph. me i know it will, with like 38,s 5.13 gears four speed and a lq9 i know a old truck would be able to hit a 100mph, the only thing that would be a issue is how dangerous it would be with mud tires and being lifted. o yea he is a driver of a slamed ranger with mustang wheels and a turbo'd 4 cylinder i mean he thinks he is fast lol and that lifted trucks are all slow haha. cant wait to show him up one day

I have vids of me chewing up hondas w turbos that run 12's MaxBlaze runs 12.8 at 103 in the 1/4 and as soon as I get my launch figured out Im betting on 11's This truck will run 130 +.
I had an 05 CC duramax that Ive run up over 126 in 5th w 6th to go still and I backed out cause the dodge behind me was 2 miles back. I fugured id done enough to him.

I voted 5.3 for price, availability and it makes decent power in stock form. I had an 03 1500 ex cab short bed Z71 with the 5.3 and that engine moved that truck quite nicely. Certainly wasn't winning any races at the dragstrip but no shortage of power even when towing cars with it. IMHO a 5.3 wouldn't have any trouble moving a K5 around.
 
see i was thinking about a 5.3 for awhile but it just seems over done in the k5 and k10. i really havent seen many 6.ol swaps in a 4x4 and i like the sounds of a 6.0l alot in the 2500's. and there is always the saying "no replacement for displacment". im sure a 5.3 makes plenty of power for my k10 to wheel on and DD but i think i just want the little extra power from the 6.0l for up hills and towing.
 
If you want to tow then u DO NOT want the 5.3 it makes 325 hp in 05. I had an 05 cc sb 2wd w a 5.3 in it. Could it tow? yea it did but it did it in 2nd gear at 5500 rpm to get up a hill at 55-60 mph
the duramax has NOT been overdone :pimp: it also makes hp in the 300's but tq in the 500 600 range and it will pull a ****in HOUSE up a hill at 90 w the a/c on. Do the 6.0 w a 4L80E the ally is to long for a K5 unless u do what I did and adapt a 205
Oh yea I forgot the escalade engine makes over 400 hp these days

yea i know the duramax's are bad and make all kinds if power really resonable but, back home if you drive a diesel everyone wants to race and then they all ways screw with your stuff cause they figure if you have a diesel you have money which isnt true all the time. and im truely a gasser at heart haha

now would it be crazy to buy a 1,000 dollar motor with close to 100k mile on it. (LQ9) haha why not go for some extra performance

Just make sure that it comes with every thing, the little parts really do add up in costs
 
when you say little parts you mean like the accesories (water pump, starter alternator etc....) do you think it should come with the computer and wiring harness also for that price

for that price it should come with all that just make sure, cause all the accessories for these motors are expensive
