Where are you seeing Lq4's for 500 bucks? I'm looking at Ebay right now.

In and running for 1500? Sorry to burst your bubble but no.

dude i went threw the list of recommended searches and it eventually comes up with some motors that are like 130k-160k motors for like 450-800 depending on who is selling it. trust me they are hard to find on there.

Descriptions lacking. Is it for the complete motor and harness with accessories or just a bare long block? You don't want a 99. Look for 03 and up. Less problems.

Found one for 650 but "All engines DO NOT include starter, alternator, steering pump, turbo or supercharger, A/C compressor, plastic engine covers, ECU, coil pack, distributor or throttle bodies. All engines are sold as a long block".

yea i seen they were sold with no accesories but no intake wouldnt be very good, what diffrent about the 03 and up trucks

99-01 (IIRC) had iron heads. Earlier models also had issues with the needle bearings in the rockers working their way lose and ending up in the pan. Most 03's still had the regulator on the rail with DBW. 04 and up have the regulator with the filter. No return line at the manifold and head bolts changed.

ok gotcha thanks i would have bought a 99 and thought nothin of it, well i guess the price goes back up to 800 and up lol

I just remembered another thing about the early ones. 99-00 had a longer crankshaft hub. That's the only upside to an early engine. No spacer required if running an 700r4, 400, 350, 465.

but all in all the newer engines are better, why not just switch crank shafts so the stub is longer on a new one

The GM spacer is about 15 bucks. To swap cranks you'd have to measure for bearing clearances, might as well install new bearings and polish the crank. Assuming the reluctor rings are the same. Read $$$$.

Edit: The spacer is 30.43 Part number 12563532

thats sucky, just run a 99-2002 computer or change sensors from year to year, just throwing that out there if it would work, im not to good with modiflying sensors

has anybody ever seen a 6.2 ls3 from the new trucks or camaro's swaped into anything, i tried finding something on google but didnt see anything. i dont think it would be much more work than a lq9 lq4 or ls2 just prolly a whole lot more money invested in it
