LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.
Sitting here doing bondo smoothing, getting excited cause it's going well enough.IMG_20260509_121034260_MP.jpg

And then realize that I haven't even welded the inner part in, or folded the bottom lip up :doah:

Guess I got ahead of myself a little lol

Not once lol.

It's still in better shape than most of the same generation around here.

I've wished that they made more than just front doors for new re-pops though.
I'm hoping as the growing generations move into gmt400s being more popular, someone will start.
Then I'll just replace all of them.
I'm too far into this body with the sound deadening and such anyway.

If I was going to body swap it, it'd be like an IH travelall, or a MUCH older burb body.

That's only if I roll this or something... (Knocks on wood) Lol.

That's what I keep trying to tell myself when I'm obsessing over tiny chit.
Because I tend to do that. Lol.
My 20/20 truck keeps getting over built lol.
What I tell myself during those moments is I'm doing it because one day I may want it NOT to only be a 20/20 truck.
As long as the metal is right I can always fix small body issues and paint another winter.

Started welding both tail door inners in today.
Got creative and used jumper cables to ground both doors at once. So I could just sit in the chair and swing back and forth tacking them.

Still have some clean up grinding to do on the drain hole, but figured I'll do that as I'm cleaning up the welded around it.
Hope to be done with these doors by the end of the week and into the driver's side jams.

Welding thin metal over head while sitting on a chair has some disadvantages...

I had a weld ball go through my pants, land on my inner thigh right along the tighties, roll all the way down my undie line and then quickly finish and a nice spot on the back of my thigh to nestle home and burn out:yikes:
Glad it wasn't a couple inches over lol.IMG_20260511_152221943_MP~2.jpg

The fun of projects :haha:

Decided against an azz load of grinding and body filler under the tail doors.
They're too low for anyone to be up under them, and why spend the time/energy for something nobody will ever see.
Especially since these doors get double latched and locked from the inside, so they're only opened when I need to work on something.

This is where I stopped on the passenger inner today.IMG_20260512_182036417_MP.jpgIMG_20260512_182047048_HDR.jpgIMG_20260512_182043840_HDR.jpg
Done as far as I'm concerned.

Didn't get pics of the drivers side inner.
But the outer is going on already.IMG_20260512_194801143_MP.jpg

Also.....
I set the hood on..
IMG_20260512_195135357_HDR.jpgIMG_20260512_193017401_HDR.jpg
But I'm going to have to slot some holes because it doesn't work at the moment lol.

The drivers side is pulled all the way forward, and the passenger side is pushed back as far as possible.

Tried shifting the core support , but it's pretty centered and happy where it is . :dunno:
Plus couldn't shift it far enough to make any difference.

Im still not sure about the hood.

So I plan on getting the old hood painted up when I paint the truck, or soon after, so I can fall back on it if this one doesn't grow on me. :dunno:

I went 4 inch because I wasn't sure in my head yet about how I'd end up doing boost if I do. And wanted room to add the optional intercooler to my intake if I went procharger style or turbo.

Also, figured out that I need to push the hood to the passenger side at the window edge, slightly bending the hinges that way to center it.

Maybe it'll be easier to adjust the sides at the front then.

Wife sent me these the other day.
Not sure if she's picking on my cause mine isn't done yet, or what....
But, it does give me a good idea of what the lower cowl would look like.
Few months too late... But I do like it  :thinking:Screenshot_20260512-212018~2.jpgScreenshot_20260512-212008~2.jpg

Got the endura pins for the driver's side today.
And the plastic to make the temporary spray booth.
Got a bunch of furnace filters for that last week.

Going down to menards this weekend to get wood for said booth.

Fingers crossed that I can pull it together by the end of the month.

.....
It'll do.IMG_20260516_190925282_MP.jpgIMG_20260516_190929629_HDR.jpg

I made a bunny..... I think
Maybe a dog....IMG_20260516_163033710_MP.jpg

Hood lines up like chit. No fuggin idea what to do with it. Hope I get it straight.
I Really don't want to blow the clip back apart to start over.IMG_20260516_211220917_HDR.jpgIMG_20260516_211228238_HDR.jpg

Hard to see here, but that rear corner is below the fender by 1/4" easy.IMG_20260516_211239751_MP.jpg

Drivers side started.

REALLY need to either replace the steering box, or attempt and output shaft reseal.IMG_20260516_182956932_MP.jpgIMG_20260516_183004519_MP.jpg

I'm NOT a fan of denatured alcohol.
I'm sticking to blue windshield washer fluid.

These panels looked cleaner before I wiped them down. This is clean paper towel, soaked with DA, wiped over this 2 times. Every single thing I've wiped down with it has left streaks of chit.
One panel I wiped down 3 times with new towels each time, always streaked.
IMG_20260516_163555033_MP.jpg Then wiped once with the WW fluid and it was cleared off.
