LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.
Most of my current progress pics all look the same :doah: lol. Oh well I guess.
Won't really change much until the front end starts going back together. Soon :D

I'm making a dual alternator bracket, that will use the LS one in it's stock location and the stock one outside of it.
It's gonna suck to check power steering fluid, so I'll just have to make sure I fix all leaks right away lol.

I'm going to have to tackle the left over wire bundle again soon. That's gonna suck. But I gotta do Something with it so :dunno:
We got our tax return yesterday. But we have some other things to take care of first. Once that's done we'll see what's left over, and then I'll be able to get this a LOT closer to running.

Dual batts for the front because stereo. Not necessarily needed, but going to.

Dual alts because there will also be dual batts in back, because stereo lol. One alt for each set of batteries.

Really the front may possibly get changed around and get 1 batt. Not sure yet.
The truck came factory with dual batteries, so they took power from each one for chit.
I could use one and do a distribution block where the other one was, and just carry a large lead over there to feed it. Figured it'd be easy to throw 2 batts in again though for simplicity.

For reference, the stereo will probably pull around 400-700 amps, depending on peaks and such when I'm running it hard.

I figured the dual alternators were for the stereo, but two sets of dual batteries sounds redundant. The oil burner needed duals for winter cranking, but that doesn't mean you'll benefit from keeping that setup.

Either way...you'll need a large lead running from side-to-side, no?

It already has a built in wire with 2 positive terminal ends and it Ys off to feed the fuse block. They pulled the power for the fuse block and all the truck stuff off the driver's side. And they pulled the power for the starter off the passenger side.
I wired all my Holley stuff to power off the passenger side also.
I like to keep the starter wire short, so that's the side I'll keep if I go one batt.
Then just take that existing battery terminal end off the driver's side and install a distribution block, or something similar.

The highs and mid bass amps will be fed from the front battery/batteries. And the subs will be the only thing coming off the batteries in back.
My thinking with keeping the dual batteries up front is those won't be deep cycle.
I like to go out in the country a LONG way from houses and turn the vehicle off, and the stereo up. 2 batteries up front will ensure I don't strand myself. If I stay real long I'll run it. But it's better when the stereo is the only thing making sound.
The front batteries could probably be normal $100-$120 batteries and be ok.
Not sure if the vibrations will hurt them up there.
Rears will be yellow tops.

I'd keep the two electrical systems isolated. Drain the deep cycles as much as you want, you'll still be able to get home. But if you run the highs and mids off the front batteries, you'll always be worrying about stranding yourself. So I'd run the whole system off the back batteries. Or, if you want to use the driver-side battery, isolate that one so it's just running the stereo. The rest of the truck will be fine with just one battery.

And I'd have a backup switch connecting the two systems. Just in case you ever need to jump a dead starting battery (or you wanna use both alternators to charge the back batteries faster).

This is really close to the setup I laid out for my camping burb, so I could run electrical stuff all night and still be able to drive away in the morning.

I haven't wound up needing much overnight electrical equipment, so I've been using a small AGM battery and just plugging it in when it needs charging. But someday I'll have a fridge or something that requires juice. And then I'll finally have a good excuse to wire up the second battery system. :waytogo:

Started into the wire clean up and went full in lol. Taking things back to the bulkhead plug, and right off the fuses so I can relabel them in the factory box.

I tore into the driver's side today and pulled the entire harness out where I could look at it and chase stuff.
What a friggin mess lol.

The ABS isn't going back in. It's getting an adjustable proportional valve instead.

The wires that are left are known, labeled, and useful.
Just got to get and install a couple relays and a lot of them will be used.
Some are AC stuff Ill use in the future.
Only wire I can't figure out yet, is the white one from the trucks harness that goes to the Alt. I have look that one up.

Got the new power steering pump. It's almost the same as the old one, just has the top of the reservoir skewed over a little.
Also got to test fit my thrown together second alternator brackets.

They'll work for now. I have to do some slight tweaking, and weld the spacers on the back. Plus make spacers for the outer end yet, and get a longer bolt.

The left over hole in the Alt bracket is for the second idler wheel. I have to get it, and get a bolt/nut to mount it so I can weld the nut in.

Missing a few at the moment lol. No water pump, tensioner, extra idler... Lol.

That, would be awesome, lol.
And not totally out of the future.

Unfortunately I didn't gap the rings for boost. So I'll wait until I've ragged it out this way a while. Pull it back apart for a freshen up, and gap them then. And I don't intend to do it, until I have the boosting means already.
