LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.
Well run it up to temp before you dump it again. Even if that means waiting on your fluidamper.

It was warm when I did it this time lol. But I do plan on running it a bit after the balancer change, just to let the filter grab some crap. Then change it the second time.

On a separate note,,. The exhaust leak was dumping out an inch from the oil cooler line, and a wire loom full of wires. It melted the loom but the wires are ok sofar.

I need to get that leak fixed right soon though. I may just pull that manifold off if it isn't super hard. I haven't looked that close yet. Then do all the fixing out on the bench and re install.

Dampr changed. It actually was super easy.
I modified the bar I built to prevent the 454 from turning during bolt torque. And made it work for this too. So now it's a universal :D

And I didn't grab a pic but due to this job I now have a new puller, balancer installer, and 50-250 ftlb Icon torque wrench.

And I found a new issue :doah:.
I put a new belt on when I did the tensioner pulley. And one 1/8" of one side has worn off already. :dunno:

All the pulleys seem to be ok, and line up. Except the water pump pulley. It has a weird wear pattern. And the belt rides hard against the back side. Which seems to be the issue.... But I can't figure out why yet.
I cleaned off the rust thinking that was causing it. But it's still doing it.

Check for wear on my idler pulleys. My 454 was started randomly tossing the belt. I couldn't make it 50-75 feet with out it tossing it off. It ended up be a weirdly worn idler pulley.

Just a thought.

I just replaced the only idler. All the others drive something. Only the water pump and tensioner/idler are smooth ones.. all the others are grooved And should center themselves.

I didn't know if that 6.5 had a idle that wasn't the tensioner.
Moving on.
Shim the pulley?

I know that's not correcting the issue that started it. But fixed is fixed?

I'd have to go back with it. Only way to shim is out :dunno:. All I can think of is try to measure all the other pulleys and see if one of the others is slightly off causing this... Or let it do its thing and keep a belt around incase.

Something not line up right when you stabbed the new balancer back on?

And contrary to everything I read... I noticed absolutely no difference in the way it runs, idles, or the noises it makes. Lol.

The one noise difference I did notice comes from the exhaust leak I minimized.

When I'm excelerating sort of hard I now notice the frickin turbo whistle..:doah: damnit.

So are you the new whistlendiesel then?

It was doing it before too. I noticed the new belt had a side rubbed off, so I was going to put the old one back on thinking I had just installed it wrong... And the old one was doing it too. Which was pre balancer install.

Bearing in the water pump?

Lol no. Luckily it's only when I'm getting into it harder than I usually do. And it's not loud. Still bugs me. Once the stereo is in I'm sure it'll go away :waytogo:

Bearing in the water pump?
I'm wondering... I did try to wiggle it and such, but I felt nothing :dunno:. That's doesn't rule it out though. I plan on doing the cooling mod that adds the later model pump and dual thermostat housing. So I'll wait till then and see if it still does it. If so I'll have to dig farther... I'm going to change that pulley and the crank pulley at that time also.

Typically if the bearing is failing coolant will start dripping out of the weep hole. Check it. My guess it's fine. I've only had two water pump failures on my personal shit in my life. They went right NOW. But I thought I would toss it out there.

Well, I tried starting it this morning when I got home from work... -11*F ... It didn't start, and the lift pump wouldn't shut off... So I had to stand out in the cold and disconnect both batteries :doah:.
