LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.
Sat down and made up a full list of parts needed to make this drivable. And I'm in the $2000 area :doah: .
I can cut some corners and go full redneck in a couple places and knock that down to about $1500. That would make it "drivable", but far from right.

Heres my list, short a few things. Like fuel lines, hoses, and fluids and such.

Intake on and torqued. Now that it's on I found I have to drill in it for the manifold air temp sensor :doah: .
Just gotta stuff a rag in since I'm drilling near the TB.
I'm cutting the stock purge solenoid connection nipple off, and drilling that spot to a 1/2" hole. Then you shave the sensor down a bit and use O2 sensor safe rtv to hold it in.

I ordered a loaded 92mm TB, Corvette style fuel filter/regulator, some adapter fittings for that, injector harness adapters (changed lanes after ordering the terminator and have the wrong harness now), and the throttle cable bracket.

That stuff should be here tomorrow or Wednesday.
I'm working a bunch of OT right now to try and hammer through this.

Costs on this kind of stuff always snowball. I'm trying to not think about all the nickel and dime crap adding up on my engine swap.

There's a few ways I can make it drivable cheaper. Using the old plugs, cheap azz wire set, use one cheap batt for now, etc.
I'm going to try and not do that if possible though lol.

Especially when you'll want to replace that stuff in the future anyway.

Drilled the intake and got the MAT sensor installed.

Then I moved the air box forward. Some, and built a stand off heat shield off the back of it.

And it's probably hard to see in this pic, but I took a quick highschool level shot at making it look better under the hood.
Works for now.

Instructions told me its required.

I thought it was some sort of mass flow. Couldn't figure out why the lead was so short. Then did more reading and figured out it was just s temp lol.
Everything I've read on it says it's needed though.

I’ve never seen an intake air temp sensor actually in the intake. It usually was put in the tube between the air box and the throttle.

Later maf sensors have the intake air temp sensor as part of it.

I don’t see a problem with it in the intake but I don’t know why gm put them where they did. Probably some reason. But it should work there.

Wonder if it's for boosted applications where you would want to monitor the air temp in the manifold?

Could be. Could still be in an intake tube between a turbo or pro charger to the throttle body.

But if whoever built the harness did it to make a simple tidy package and put it in the intake it would make sense too. One less pair of wires reaching off the engine.

True, I think in the Terminator X kit it's used as a manifold air temp sensor because it's speed density.

Diesels mostly all run manifold air temp sensors. Some run intake air temp sensors too right after the filter.

Yeah, just rechecked the book, it's needed with the terminator.

Whole bunch, of little tiny stuff done today. Some finer details on wires.
And got the TB on.

Then I got some offsets made up to get the exhaust started.
Had to get over the cross member.

While I was at it I pulled the filter housing and Carter lift pump off. And started removing the fuel lines.
Looks like I'll have to replace the brake lines while I'm down there.

Forgot pics. :doah:
