LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.
I was aware of the flat spot you were trying to tune out, I didn't think it actually died still, I thought that was a one time thing.

October is the best time of year for new PBs because of the good air, because of that a lot of waiting is part of it. But if you go in July you aren't going to be running the same numbers and you'll be sweating your butt off.

Once you realize you have more time than you think instead of waiting, then hurrying, then waiting, only to wait some more after the run, it's more fun and less stress.

Next time change the timing 2 degrees and try again.

And then maybe the fuel, or remove your air cleaner for one pass to confirm if you need a bigger one.

You only did the test and not the tune...;)

Yeah, I'd like to bump the WOT shift point up 200 rpm and take the timing up a couple points in the higher rpm levels. Like 4500+ start blending up some.
Also, the air cleaner will definitely get the bigger box and element over the winter.

This run was also done with the filter box lid on.
It was cool enough out (about 60 I think) that the lid off would have been fine.
My 13 second 0-100 was done with the lid off.

It's supposed to rain in a few days.
I'm going to setup a log and the GoPro and try to catch that dieing again. On a wet surface it should do it fairly easily lol.

It's done the dieing thing about 6-8 times now.
Only twice under hard acceleration moving.
Rest were low traction conditions or a power brake that went too well.

So,
I just went out to the burb to download the latest file, bring the card in and adjust the learn parameters. Slow them down a bit.
And it says I have the old tune currently in it. The one with 33* timing.
But I know for a fact I uploaded the 27* tune and ran it that way a few times. I have a log that shows it holding at 27 ish across the board.

I haven't changed it. So? Can it revert somehow..?:dunno:

I'm stupid. Apparently I over wrote that 32 file and didn't rename. Lol.

Cured the dieing issue :woot:.

Had a hunch it had something to do with my rev limiter being set to cut "fuel and spark" mode.
Found this on the Holley EFI tech forums and tried it.

It works :waytogo:

So that's a load off for sure.

Embarrassed the hell out of me a few times.
Especially at the track in the burnout box.

While I was in there and thinking about rev limits, I set the limit up from 6900 to 7k, then set my WOT shift points up from 6600 to 6700 1st-2nd, and 6750 for 2nd-3rd. Don't much care about 3-4 because at WOT id be doing like 135 mph, and I haven't taken it there ever lol. Probably won't.

Unless I somehow got it to do that in a 1/4 pass.

Don't think I have enough money to get there lol

Changing that WOT shift point only changes the horizontal lines in the shift chart, then you have to go back and change the actual shift points. Unless you are using the handheld.

I actually have my shift point at WOT for 3-4 way higher than my rev limiter on purpose, it will never shift to 4th at full throttle, I don't need to go above 165 MPH.

The graph shift points are already set within 2mph of my new WOT points so I guess that works.:dunno:

Maybe that's all 100rpm changes them..

Something I was wondering......
If I change my rev limit back to 6900, then change my 1st to 2nd shift point to just below the rev limit. (Rpms always go about 100-150 over my set shift point during the shift)
Will the engine hitting the limit mid shift help it NOT hit so frickin hard?

That or I'm going to play with the new torque management the Terminator has. Second to third shifts are quick good shifts without jarring the drivetrain. First I can't seem to tame well.

At low throttle you can turn the pressure down a little more, at high throttle I would let it be firm. If it's way too firm and it feels like you will break something, then you can use torque management to slow it down during the shift, but I think you would be better off fixing the trans correctly.

I'm at like 30% duty cycle at 100% throttle on the 1st/2nd shift and it leaves short black marks when it shifts there.

Ya know..... For not a a lot more $$$, I could have 3 pedaled this thing instead of built an auto and custom converter :doah:
Lol. I wanted the wife to share it with me, because she liked driving it.
I haven't gotten her to drive it once since the upgrades
Should have just done it.
I was also kind of wondering how well a TKX or something would last doing hard launches and such in a 6000+# truck lol

Could still put the auto in the car and find out I guess:thinking:

I have the next week or so off. I'm thinking about asking the dude that built it to go for a ride with me and see what he thinks about it.
Not sure how to "fix it right" :dunno:

In town I just lift the skinny for a second when I want it to shift to second. No scratch, and it's been n secret and when I push down again.
If I don't I get a tiny scratch as long as I'm below about 15% throttle.

I was seriously worried about it breaking something on the race track because of the sticky track surface and the 1-2 shift at WOT.

I mean... I'm not unhappy with the auto.

It's just that it COULD have been manual :thumb:
Lol.

Finally pulled the plugs.
Took Delco 41-962 out.
Replaced em with 41-162...
So I think the only actual difference is ones iridium..:dunno:

Overall I've been driving the wheels off of this and having a blast.
Surprisingly it actually turns heads.
Can't wait till I get to body and paint.
Soon, hopefully soon.
Winter down time will finish the bulk of the stereo.
Hopefully some small body work by spring too.

I want to change the trans fluid and oil again, and let it run after this.

I'm going to go with the dex 6 this time, and see if it actually raises the stall speed like people claim.
I figure, even if it doesn't, dex 6 can't hurt :dunno:

Goal is stereo in and main body done by this time next near.

Then maybe.... The engine gets another revisit while it sits for the winter.
