M1009 Standard Shift Build(The Greatest Adventure)

I got everything disconnected under the truck this past weekend. Linkage, lines, wires. I had to cut the tranny lines as I was not able to fish them out. I would have prefered to save them as they were in nice shape. I cut them with a line cutter so they could be flared, coupled, and reused. Not that I have any plans too I just hate ruining good parts. I need to find some plugs for my radiator and the transmission to keep fluid in and debris out.
Next step is to unbolt and drop the tranny. I am debating leaving the t-case attatched. I have two floor jacks, a bottle jack, and some ratchet straps to get everything safely to the ground.

That white switch is just for brake lights. The important thing is that your brake lights don't stay on when the pedal is at rest. I'd set it so they come on once the pedal is depressed 1/4" or so.
So I am clutch shopping and finding all diaphragm clutch sets listed being for hydraulic clutch linkage. Is there a difference or will they work for me?

I got the transmission out this weekend. Everything is now removed and I am waiting to begin the install. I ordered my clutch through the zone and I have already received my new flywheel.
Removal went ok. I left the transfer case and crossmember attatched. This allowed me plenty of room for floor jacks. I unbolted the trans first, then I got my jacks in place and unbolted the crossmember. I used a bottle jack with a 2x8 under my oil pan to support the engine. I ran two ratchet straps under the trans to catch it from slamming into the ground. When everything was set up I tied a tow strap to the transfer case and ran it out behind the truck and pulled. A couple tugs and my transmission was out.

I got my acdelco radio in from cali thanks to cyclone. Its in nice shape and was just what I was looking for with presets and a cassette player. I need to find some stock size speakers and I will begin the install so I can get my dash all back together.
I also cleaned out a buddys grandmothers house (his uncles were into cars when they were younger) this weekend and picked up a sick set of 70s. I also grabbed a set of 6 lug steel wheels, but they are only 6 inches wide so I am putting them up for sale for 40$ for the set. I'll re-post them in the for sale section.

Looks like it will turn out great. When you have EVERY part for the swap. I went the opposite way. 465/205 to turbo 400/205. Sold my manual setup on C-list. Hope you like the end result.
You're putting a stock radio in that truck? Or is that one of them retrofit radios that have an ipod hook up in the back?
FWIW, Crutchfield has some decent stock size dash speakers and they come with brackets for proper fit. That's what I put in mine anyways. Fit right under the stock dash pad.

Yeah, it's a stock radio. I like the old radios they are fun to use and I don't need it to be that loud. I have a few amps laying around if I decide to bump it up a little and throw in some rear speakers. Thanks for the tip on crutchfield, because currently I have no brackets. Are you running a center speaker?
So I just looked those up. I am thinking about the boston acoustics for
$34.99. Looks like people are using bass blockers? Is that something you have? I don't think that deck will be putting out bass to block.

No center. And I've never seen one. Think they were only used with AM only radios.
Those marine grade Polk speakers are the same ones I bought. They fit great and sound pretty good too along with some marine grade 6x9s in wood boxes in the back. I just went with a simple Sony CD head unit that had a USB port in front so I could charge and play music through my iphone. No amps or craziness worth stealing cause the top stays off all summer anyways.
Enough about the radio. Get that trans swap done before April 22 and come out wheeling!

I got my speakers in this morning. I am very happy with crutchfield. I also got wires for my radio, but I do not know where they go. If anyone can identify them or knows where I might find a diagram it would be a great help
