M1009 Standard Shift Build(The Greatest Adventure)

How else will I play all my cassettes? my camaros have cassette players too. It just makes it fun. At some point I have an old 4 channel amp that I will put in between and run an iPod jack thing to directly with two more speakers.

Thanks for the update. I was wondering how it turned out. Glad to hear that everything lined up like that too. I've heard that the transmissions/transfer cases were the same length, but I didn't believe it until now, since I've heard a first hand account. Thanks.

I posted a link to my Suburban build thread early in this post. Mine was TH700R4/NP208 to SM465/NP208 instead of a TH400/NP208 though.

Hey Rich, if your drag link isn't quite level after the EZ inch I think I have a drop pitman arm you can try to level it out. Level drag link will make for better steering.

Thanks Brian, My steering wheel is out of alignment now. That may be related, but I have not tried to realign it yet. Is your offer for some floor help still good? I'm going to try to start gathering some metal. I don't know what thickness is best.

I have an old box of tbi parts I came across that came with a truck I had like 5 years ago. Inside is a new cam if you are interested. Its a lunati 04343. I have no idea if rebuilding your engine is in your future, but it's yours if you want it. I also have an extra tbi and miscellaneous things.

I like trades. Offer is still good. Not sure on the thickness you should use....

Aligning the steering wheel is easy, just a matter of loosening the adjusting sleeve and turning it till the wheel is where you want it. The point is that you want the drag link as level to the ground as possible to prevent bumpsteer.

Got the new tach in the mail. I had time to mount it tonight, but no wiring yet. I wasn't sure if it needs to hookup to the main fuel line or any of the lines that run into the injectors. I am calling them tomorrow for more info. The mounting was tough because there is an alt gauge right next to where I want the tach and the brackets interfere.

I just got tapatalk so loading pics from my phone is a whole new experience. The first pic in the last post is the back of where I mounted the tach before cutting.

I'm still not so sure how I feel about Tapatalk. I would almost rather go to the regular sight and zoom in and out.

The transducer goes on an individual injector line.

I got the tach in. It works great and looks sick in the dark. The bottom pic is the transducer. It's wired in the cab to 12v switched off the ignition from the fuse box.

Nice work! Been a while since I saw one of those factory radios. Brings back memories of pushings those little silver buttons to get to my favorite radio stations, only to realize that they were a little off and I still had to turn the knobs a little to make the static go away anyway. Good times!

I added this little tray tonight. Mostly due to boredom.

Sweet. Now you have something to put all your cassettes in so they won't slide all over the floor board. :D

That's one bad thing about these old rigs. They didn't come with any kind of storage compartments like all the newer vehicles do. Or cupholders. You need cupholders.

Well I got 60 days to fix my floors...
