M1009 Standard Shift Build(The Greatest Adventure)

Pun intended?

Yes Jesse.

So update-

The front 4.88s were installed the weekend before last. 496truck helped me all day to get them in and setup right.

I just put my front driveshaft in last night so I haven't been able to test them out.

I also added 6 inches to my outer front driveshaft. I just welded on 6 more inches of tube.

Everything is back together at the moment and drivable. :woot::woot:

(496truck Brian if you were wondering, I did remember to put fluid in my front diff, and I changed the rear diff fluid as well.)

So whats next-

I have a PSC steering pump sitting at my house and all new lines.

I want to replace all my belts.

I'm thinking this may be a good time to throw on a new harmonic balancer. I have read these go bad over time.

Order up some inner air locks for the new wheels and tires.

Get a power inverter for my trailer.

So how much damage was done by the explosion? Did you ever get that sorted out?

Not yet, they finally sent me a shipping label to send it back. They need to analyze it.

They told me they had some 24v heaters that were sold with a 12v element. They have known them to malfunction or some bs, but never to explode.

I can see where that would be an issue.

Seems like they would have some kind of voltage regulator on there in anticipation of that. Not that a regulator would make up for a +12 VDC difference. I'm actually surprised that the blower motor actually worked at all.

More power burnout

Alright, total vent post.

I got home from skiing this morning to go to work so I left the trailer hooked up because I knew I was heading back north when I got out.

I barely get in the door from work and my condo neighbor is banging on the door. Before I even open the door he starts yelling, "I know you're in there, open up!"

So I open up the door and he barges in and and says he has to talk to my mother. The guy starts yelling to my mom about how he is sick of my **** in the driveway and it need so get out or he's calling a tow truck.

It's common parking btw and I have always had a pos car parked in one outside spot and one nice car for the like 5 years now. I have never been called out on it by my neighbors who share the driveway.

Anyways, he continues to say that he is going to bring it up at the next condo meeting and have all my stuff thrown out of the garage, because I am using it as a workshop.

I'm totally in the wrong when it comes to working on cars on the property, and I have the 79 unregistered in the garage which is a big no. I also have a big argon tank which will not go over well. I don't even want to get into my own wiring jobs to get 240v out there. Basically I'm royally screwed if the board agrees to search my garage.
