M1009 Standard Shift Build(The Greatest Adventure)

Alright, It's been way too long since I updated this thread.

I did end up buying a new welder. I got a multimatic miller and built a cart for it out of aluminum as can be seen here. I really like this welder and it makes me feel far more competent than the cheap ones I have used in the past.

I ended up picking up a harbor freight bender to make my roof rack. I talked to our local plumber and got some recommendations on pipe sizes.

Unfortunately, as I sit here trying to upload photos to my computer, there was an error in transfer from my phone. I am missing all the pictures of my camper build, tire and beadlock mounting, and basically everything until halfway through my last trip to Pennsylvania.

I also finally mounted my kevlar mtrs. They are wayyyyyy smoother on the highway than the old tsls. I picked up tome tyrepliers from the australian people. They helped a lot with breaking the bead. I'm not too keen on mounting and dismounting tires by hand. It seemed to put a lot of stress on the rubber and on me. The tires have about 3000 airsoft pellets each in them which seems to do alright.

I also welded rock rings onto the stock m1009 wheels. The rock rings I got appear to be a bit thinner than what Jt152 is running :doah:

Here are some additional wheeling shots.

Check out swettys build for the high quality pics from PA. This is the only shot left on my phone.

Right after PA I put my truck in a car show. There were about 25 cars total. Two people really liked how the mud was painted on my truck to look real.

I also went wheeling with a bunch of jeeps in NH

That Cherokee was not fun to have along.

My buddy carls truck was getting some. A lot of the jeeps wouldn't drive through that mud....

Carl and I are going out with expo portal people in Maine in two weeks. I hope I can have some good photos to share.

I also picked up some surplus waterproof boxes for tools etc.

I also have to add that I kinda talked my buddy Stephen into buying a commando. Hopefully it will be getting bigger and I'll throw some pics up every so often.

Awesome updates. I was starting to think you had found another hobby. Like building camping trailers, burning them up then selling them at a profit.

Just kidding man. Can you give us some details on your roof rack?

I'll be adding a few things onto the rack before next Thursday when I head up to Maine so I will definitely take some new photographs.

I'm still not really sure what happened to mine? Hopefully I can hit the apple store this week and figure out where all my pictures went to.

And, now that you've put some miles on them, how are the gears working out? I'd ask if there were any noises but, honestly, I think the rear end could fall out of that truck and you wouldn't hear it. :haha:

That's Ok. I didn't want to go.

:D

:haha:

I didn't have plans to go until the night before. You didn't miss much besides dragging the stock Cherokee over a bunch of rocks. It was easily the slowest group I've ever wheeled with.

I don't think I'll be around till august. Hopefully we can get something going this fall.

I'm just giving you s**t. :waytogo:

That's it. After seeing that movie trailer, and there was an early K5 in it, I'm totally calling your truck Swamp Thing.
