M1009 Standard Shift Build(The Greatest Adventure)

Ford towers

What length shocks did you get ? I'm running the ford towers and 15" cheapies for now, I just used the stock lower mounts and basically set the tower as high as I could on the driver side and ended up with about 5" up and the rest down travel, my 52's actually use almost all of it.

I have 14" bilsteins. I'm planning on using the stock lower mounts. I am going to try to get a good measuring o compression before mounting. Do you have any decent pics of your towers josh?

Rich, not a great pic, but in the XJ shaft thread I have a top down shot on the drivers side http://coloradok5.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3262812&postcount=20

More or less I mounted the tower as close to the steering shaft as I could then measured and did the same location on the pass side.

Not sure how different it makes it, but my front axle is about 3-4" forward so that may make a difference

If you want a better pic let me know, the trucks right outside :D

My pic was that the tower won't work at all with my mechanical linkage for my trans.

Yeah those are way further forward. Are they in front of the bump out in the frame for bolting the shock in the stock location?

Yes, in that downward pic (XJ shaft) you can see the stock upper bracket, mine are in front of that.

Give me a minute, I'll get you a good pic .

Here you go

Thanks Josh! I'm guessing you moved your brake lines?

About 3 times now :haha:

They are just hanging at the moment, I had them mounted under the frame rail before, but I just installed the ORD crossmember and of course it bolted right where they had been. Ive got to make some new mounts for them.

I got some new breathers. I pictured them being larger. They don't really expand from how they sit, only compress. Also the holes for attaching them are very small. Much smaller than the fitting on the diff.

I called and the fellow said the bellows are supposed to be that small. He said he runs it and he has never had any problems. He agreed they were small and didn't allow for a lot of expansion, but said I shouldn't have any problems. I am going to try to find some hose barbs that match my hose on one side and the bellows on the other in order to make the 1/4 inlet on the bellows work and hopefully they will be ok.

Installed my bellows breathers the other day. I think I spent more on brass than the breathers. They look better on the truck than they did off IMO.

I also bought tapatalk 2 which lets you rotate pics so no more sideways uploads!

I was picturing the one on the front axle pointing straight up, but I guess it would hit the oil pan.

The breather fitting comes off in that direction.

Yeah I looked at mine after that and it does like that too. Guess I never noticed it before.

Ok it's dark and rainy but I drove my truck tonight.
