M1009 Standard Shift Build(The Greatest Adventure)

Does a factory locked wide 14sf rear with a 3.08 numerical gear ratio exist?

After doing some reading on here I am going to avoid a sf gov-lock and look for one with an open carrier. I definitely want the wider axle. I can't imagine the 3.08 gear ratio to be common if it exists.

The thing is that the 14bsf was for higher gvrw trucks so I would think most if not all came with 3.73, 4.10, or 4.56 but that's just speculation. I can't say for sure.

Well those gears would require significantly larger tires

Mounted but not wired yet. Went on pretty easy. I need to make some brackets when I get home to set the light back out of harms way.

I wanna see it light up the night!

I'm gonna get the 30" when I build my front bumper.

I just did a quick job getting the wiring in. I'll work it out better at home. The harness made it super easy. Would be nicer if it was heat shrunk like the pigtail out of the light.

Nice!!

Wow!!:eek1:
I can only imagine how nice it will illuminate your offroad travels at night!

Wouldn't 3.73's be a good upgrade? Or does that diesel do alright with the 3.08's?

It runs flat highway really well with the 3.08s. I can get in 4th no problem around town at 30mph. It only really lags power going uphill. The main problem with that is the space between 3rd and 4th requires about an 1100 rpm difference in the engine and with the rev range being limited I have to wait for my truck to slow down when going uphill to about 35mph before I can make the shift and be in a good rev range again.

I was gonna say, 3.42s might give you that extra for going u hill, but still run good rpms

Could be. Sent an email, but now I'm headed out to wheel until it gets dark and test my lights!

Hell, stop by on your way back through Nebraska, and I'll give you a ten bolt front axle with 3.42's in it for a matching pair.

That's a very attractive offer.

I think I may have a matching set of 3.08's or 3.42's 30 spline that is defiantly open you could have for free. I won't have the time to pull the cover for awhile but I can give you directions to my old mans place and you can snag them.

Explored a bunch tonight. The first trail I went up was called shelf road and it had lots of little turnoffs to scenic views. The second was phantom canyon road. This was an old railroad bed.
