My 1990 K5 Blazer build

Ah, a smart one this colbystephens fella. :)

Good call man, that thought didn't even cross my mind!

Would a 2.5" with a 4" shackle flip be a better setup than a 4" with a 2.5" shackle flip?

I agree. A flatter spring is likely to outperform a more arched spring unless you go for really high-dollar springs. But then, you're not comparing performance within the same class either.

Then I'll go ahead and reuse that rear 2.5" spring and a 4" shackle flip. I'm going to order the 6" springs tonight. My parents and in-laws are going to buy a spring each for my birthday. :)

Nice. Sounds like a good plan. 4" shackle flips usually, as I understand it, lift around 3.5" or so and will move your axle forward a bit. If you like a bit of a high rear end like I do, you could look into getting a 1" add-a-leaf from DIY4x which would allow you to relocate your axle backwards up to 1.5." I don't have a shackle flip, but I will be running the 1" add-a-leafs. :)

That's kind of what I figured, if it is too low I'll do the zero rate. :)

Most people do the zero rate with a flip to move the axle back to the stock location in the wheel well.

Gotcha, I understand now. I'll be doing that then. :)

I got some extra doors today. A buddy of mine bought a house and he found these in the woods, he was going to scrap them so he just gave them to me. They are pretty beat up and have some rust, but they should make good half doors once I get some time with the grinder and welder on them. :) Sorry for the crappy pic, they were in the back of the truck and it was raining and I was too lazy to open the back for a pic.

Oh, and the other day my dad came over with something wrapped in an old towel and said he had a present for me. I opened it up and it was a complete TPI setup that I had blasted and painted a long time ago and forgot over at their house. So once my van is running again and I get some down time, maybe over Christmas, I'm going to swap this sucker on there. :)

I ordered the 6" Superlift front springs, shoudl be able to pick them up tomorrow. My brother just came over for dinner and gave me some ORD zero rates for my birthday. :)

OK, thoughts here? I am taking off my 3" body lift because it is just too much. Going with the 6" front springs and a 4" shackle flip in the rear.

Should I do a 1" ORD body lift? I think that little bot would give me a tad more lift without looking all goofy and screwing up the exhaust exit and making the truck look goofy like it does with the 3".

you do know 6" on a blazer will require drive shaft work and rear c/v style shaft and best bet slip yoke eliminator so you dont get major vibes.

Put a new muffler on the truck today. My wife and I drove the kids in to see her family and the exhaust was unbearable, she spent most of the time with her hands over her ears. :haha:

When we got here we took it to a family friend's muffler shop and had him put a turbo muffler on, so much quieter now.

Picking up a set of matching axles this weekend. 14bff to replace my dying 10-bolt and a Dana 44 8-lug to match the front. They are 4.10 gears, but that will do until I can regear them 4.56 at some point. For $300 for both, hard to pass that up.

I'd say do 4.88's if you are going 37's.

yep. i have a friend w/ 4.56 gears and 37s and he wants more gear as the trans hunts between 3 and 4 on the highway. i have 38s and will be going with 5.13s.

I have driven 38s w/ 4.10s and it wasn't a good situation. At the time I had the manual transmission, so I didn't risk burning up the transmission doing it, but it was slow! That massive wide gear ratio was a pain with that kind of gearing too!

Nevermind the axles, the guy and I told him I'd take them and would come and get them this weekend and let me know how to send him the cash. Apparently some guy called and offered him more money so he sold them. Ugh.

I did find a 14bff with a locker and 4.56 gears that is missing axle shafts for $125. Might grab that one.
