My 86 K5 build

If you go that route, get with Chad at Hired Gun Offroad and tell him I sent you. He will hook you up.

Thanks for the recommendation

Yeah, used it a couple times. Have nothing but great things to say about it. Been a great winch. If it does fail on me, I will just buy another one

they seem to be pretty solid from what I've read.

have you had a chance to use that winch yet? I'm thinking about going with an engo.

Hard to use a winch when you don't make any of the trail runs.....

Since you do know the area, she actually lived in Albion, outside of Declo. It's such a small town that most people don't know where it is.

I know Albion well, I'll be watching your build and now MTBLAZER89's also, cool rigs.

Started some work on my cage. Nothing too crazy yet, but wanted to document all of it as progress happens. So here are some pics

Start of the halo up front

Will now work on the down bars up front and start on a bunch of bracing. I would like to finish the front half first, then start on the back half. And for those who may ask, I am doing this with the top on to make sure that I can always put my top back on if I ever want to. I think it has turned out pretty good so far, not perfect, but a good start.

That's it for now. Will hopefully get some more done in the next couple days/weeks.

Got a couple more tubes on today. I probably could have gone a little tighter to the dash, but I really was more concerned with strength. Where the front tube comes down is pretty much directly above a tube that connects my sliders to my frame. Added to that, I am only about 5'8" tall, so maximizing leg room isn't as big of a deal for me. It's coming together though.

Winning!

Does your knee hit the a piller at all when hopping in? That is my only concern with going behind the dash instead of through. But not really that big of a deal..

No, I don't really hit my knee. I could have gone a little closer to the dash and it could have been better, but it works for me. I am not a very big dude though, so I can get away with it. I could see how bigger guys may really need to go through the dash or hug the dash really tight or else it could get really annoying. I plan to put some padding on the a piller for knee protection, and also on the halo by your head. That way if things get rough in the cab, it will still be all good. :D

Nice work! I may have missed it, but are you doing your own bending? If so, what model tool are you using? I am starting to get into some metal work and looking for a small hydraulic bender to start with. My first goal is to fab up a roof rack.

Again, great build! I will be checking often!

Thanks! Yes I am doing my own bending. I am using a borrowed JD2 model 32 bender using a HF ram with a SWAG offroad kit to mount the ram, from a good freind of mine.
