My 86 K5 build

Looks badass :D

What gears do you have now?

I have 4.56's right now. After looking at the gear/rpm calculator, I don't think it will be horrible with my set up, but more gearing will need to happen at some point. When I get these on (hopefully before the weekend is out) I will just put it in 4lo and see how it feels.

I don't even care if you need to trim more. Those look ****ing awesome!!!

You has my trimming approval

Knowing how much you hate guys cutting up these old square bodies, that means a lot :thumb:

I might have a used 5:13 for the 60 soon as my plans have changed a bit.

Keep me in mind. I was thinking about selling my 38.5's and using that cash to purchase gears and then when I find time, slapping them in. Send me a pm whenever/if you ever want to sell them.

Man, that is a pretty big step up in tire. You need to go to Harbor Freight and pickup one of these for your angle grinder.

And then get some of this action going on

What will be funny. Is after a. Few weeks/months of seeing it on the 44s, anything less would be just comically small.
I noticed that when I switched from 39.5s to 37s. It was almost unbearable to go smaller for a bit but it's always easy to go bigger

I already have a tire groover that I used to groove my SX's, and I do plan on doing a similar pattern on my boggers to give them some lateral traction. I will put a few runs on them first before I do that though

Yeah, my brother who is on 44" boggers too said now he has got so use to them, they look just average size now :haha:. I think once I cut some fenders more it will look more balanced on there. But I ran into a snag mounting up my H1's as it looks like the beads on these boggers are just barely bigger than the beads on my SX's, so with my current PVC inserts I can't get the rims tightened enough to create the seal. I will be calling TrailWorthy tomorrow to see what I can do. I am hopeful I can just purchase some new ones cut down to the proper size and then ship back my current ones for a relatively good price. So the mounting is going to have to wait until I can get that in order then some :hack: will begin

I would just sell the ones you have locally on CL or forums instead of trying to ship them back plus I don't know if they would resell "used" inserts.

Btw, I have a tire groover too but believe me the chainsaw blade disc is WAY faster and gives a nice wide groove. Harbor Freight also sells an adjustable guard that helps set depth of cut as well

Yeah, i was thinking probably the same on the PVC's. I was hoping my current ones would work, but the beads are just barely thicker than the SX's. Oh well, i will figure it out.

I will keep that in mind for the grooving. with how big these lugs are, a little bigger size groove could be beneficial

Bad ass tires but now I'm afraid you won't be up for any of the boring old trails I'm going to run. :doah:

Nah, I am a wheeler. I like to wheel any and all trails. My wife and kids don't really like going on the harder trails anyways. So I still plan on doing simple fun trails so I can bring them and keep it family fun. She already told me the harder stuff she will stay home :D

Update on the PVC's for anyone who is interested. I contacted Andy at TrailWorthy Fab and told him what was going on. He said it probably wouldn't be worth the cost to ship them to him just to cut them down. He told me to just get a table saw and cut them down about 1/4" and then take a flap wheel to smooth it down a little bit so they don't cut the tire and I should be good to go. So at some point this week I will get that done and hopefully get these things mounted up

You mean like this....

I am sure that works well and makes it faster... however I like the idea of grooving not as deep so as you wear the tire you can regroove differently if you didn't like how you did it the first time.

I hit many "boring" trails for someone with 44's, its always suprising the lines you can find to make things more fun for yourself and for everyone watching. You just end up not taking any bypasses, and pick all the hardest lines for fun.

I just have to give Steve a hard time. It's my official role.

Yeah, there's definitely a need. As you get older your tolerance increases so the ribbing has to increase as well.

That Lancelot thing gives me the creeps every time i see it.

It just looks like a finger laying on the ground waiting to happen....
