My build-DOWN thread...

Damn that's awesome man, I had no idea your suburban was in the family that long. My dad bought mine in 92 or 93 with about 20,000 miles on it. I grew up in that truck just like you did in yours. 4 inch and 36s? That's the set up I had when I was back in high school.

Jealous of you guys. My parents sold mine when i was 15 or so. Was so mad i bought my own a few years later.

Yep! It's good stuff! I got it with about 197k miles on it. I have only put about 25k miles on it since I got it.

Anyway, going to the junk yard today to get a new axle shaft and hub nut! Wish me luck!

Do you mean spindle nuts? If so just buy them new. Like $20 at any auto parts store

This.

Yes, you can get a used one. But if they are tweaked, you'll regret it.

I replaced both sides of mine with new, as one of my lock rings spun out of the groove, and was a BITCH to get out.

Yes, i bent it back into shape temporarily, but quickly bought new ones. I ALMOST ordered stage 8's just to make sure it didn't' happen again.

Back from the junk yard. My inner nut was missing the nipple. I got a like new set from the junk yard. They will be good.

Ha!

So in the middle of putting the brakes back together my birthday present from the wife showed up! It's a new headliner! Abs plastic backed instead of cardboard! Looks perfec! IIt's slightly lighter in color than original but it's what headliner manufacturers offer and really you wouldn't know any better unless you knew better. Another guy on here installed the same headliner in the same interior color burb and it looked incredible so I'm confident mine will look just as nice!

nice!! you should add some sound/heat insulation to the roof while you've got it apart.

Man the headliners in these things are a pain in the ass! I got the old one out and new on is fighting me big time going back in! I got the front section kinda in it that's as far as I got. I'll continue fighting and hoping for the best. Does look like it will look really nice when it's all done tho.

I dont' remember mine being that bad to reinstall.

But, scraping the old foam, and getting new fabric installed sucked.

looks like you could play billiards on that....smooooth... :waytogo:

Making progress on my front to back Panhard bar. Should have it wrapped up and ready for a test drive tomorrow.

The bar,

The axle end. I'm using a muffler clamp to test the theory. If it all works out, all pull the clamp off and order some real tabs and weld them to the axle.

And how it will mount. For the frame side I'm just going to weld a bolt onto the leaf spring bolt and weld them head to head. I have extra bolts so if it doesn't work out and I pull the bar, I'll just stick a different bolt in it. Again, for the time being, this is all just quick, easy, and cheap just to test the theory.
