My Wife gave in...I got my Avalanche

I kind of liked the styling. As far as vehicles go I like pretty much anything with a removable top and a bed

I'm with you man!
I've been watching that truck since the day they released the initial concept models. And that was about 2.5 years ago. since that day I have been following it closely. I *really* want one, but I'll have to wait until I can buy a used one in a few years, I just can't justify a $38,000 vehicle right now (since of course it'd have to be a decked out Z71).

Anyway, have some fun with it for my sake!!

I can't believe how much crap these guys are giving you over your new truck! At least he didn't buy a *ord!!!

And look what he traded in to get it! A Saturn! I'd say the man is moving up in the world, and now his wife has something that's a hell of a lot cooler to drive than a Saturn!!!

Good luck with the new truck. I hope it serves you and your wife well... It'll make a nice truck to get parts for your K5! Hehehehehehe!

Well, at least with all that plastic you wont have to deal with door dings from carts at the grocery store.

Hey Todd
Don't listen to all the crap these guys are dumping on ya. The Avalanche is a cool Chevy truck. You made the right choice, they are a thing of beauty.
Ken

I guess I am in the majority here, I think it looks like an improved Aztec. Chevy is smoking too much crack, they have an awesome concept truck, yet they produce crap like the Aztec (Pontiac has another one, just as ugly coming out next year) and the Avalanche. Then on top of it they charge $38K for the damn thing. I think the new Trailblazer is no better than the other crap the are producing, but at least they are affordable, no wait they want 30K-40K for these monstrosities.

But this is just my opinion, and like the saying goes they are like bodily cavities, I hope you enjoy it and that you can avoid some of those first year blues cars are so famous for. My wife is wanting a new vehicle and if I said what they were I would probably get twice the post you got, but it is what she wants and as long as she stays away from the crap4 and other tiny crappy suv things I will be okay.

Good lord. The rod up that man's butt must have a rod up it's butt.

I think the whole being able to change it over is pretty sweet... that idea is really great. But the looks don't appeal to me. But then again my mom thinks my Blazer is ugly

So whatever floats your boat. If your happy that's all that matters... when you trail test get some pics. I'm curious to see what it can do. Might surprise us all!

Suck Fumes Ford Boy
I keep trying to lose weight, but it always finds me!

Actually, Stimpy, I agree with you, I like them alot. I would really like to own one myslef, but I would have to lift it 4-6 inches and put at least 35s on and if I could afford it, I would do a solid axle sawp also. i think they look a little to low to the ground stock, but I think lifted , it would look mean. In Gms defence, The plastic and all that, isnt just a styleing thing. It is unfortunitly, the way the entire automotive market is heading. Its been a slow process over the last 15 years, but slowly, everytime a vehicle is redesigned, it has more and more plasic instead of steal... The Avalanch is slightly before its time, but it is where the market is headed. Most of us just have a hard time excepting it becuase we like our big cluncky heavy steal, fuel sucking solid axle Blazers/Jimmys/Burbs... Truthfully, we are stuck in the past.

Why don't you take all of the plastic off? Maybe, Just Maybe it will actually look like a truck!

I actually think the avalance is a pretty cool idea... I think what you need to do, is tear all the plastic off, and find some diamond plate... that'd look cool IMHO. I think its a great design idea, its just the jerks in marketing stapled plastic to it, which unfortunately gives it a family resemblance to the Aztech. as I said, without all that plastic on there, I'd buy one, or if they had a diamond plate kit for it, I'd deffinately be all over that one, especialy wiht the 8100, and allison AT, or 6 speed manual.....

enjoy the new toy, and let us know how it rides/runs/acts.

My truck isn't ugly, you have a skewed sense of beauty

Good for you stimpy. I'm sure you will be pleased with you new ride.

The new Avalanche is based off of the new surban chasis, 1/2 tons have a coil spring 4 link (or 5 depending on how you count your links) and 3/4 tons run leaf spring rear suspensions. Both are IFS. So far, the reliability of the new "Silverado" family of trucks and suvs seems to be far better than the old C/K bodys, not that the C/Ks are that bad, just the Silverados are that good.

I'd take the opinions from this board with a grain of salt on a subject like this. We are all "like-minded" here and have a certain mind-set. Imagine if someone made a post saying they just baught a new Jeep- Whew, would that lite a fire...

-try- to keep a open mind about things, guys.

Personaly, I totaly dig the front clip on the Avalanche. It looks sharp and edgy, computer image kinda thing.
The bed sides have lockable stoage compartments that are awesome too.
The power of the new 5.3L vortec is outstanding!

Hey,
Stimp dont let these guys bother you.....Im glad you like your new ride....I wish I could afford one....Since they dont make K5's anymore and you already have one...why not buy somthing new....You bought a GM truck(SUV) that is way better than any other product out there......and you are happy with it....thats all that matters.....most of these guys dont have families anyway. They dont know what its like to cram all of your stuff into a family car and go to a place like yellowstone in October and be caught without a 4-wheel drive.....or have the kids yelling and screaming just inches behind you head....you made a good choice....
Have fun with it

Well, you know... if you took all the plastic off of it, youd have a 82 Suberban! LMAO
GM got a deal on a whole sh*tload of 82 Subs and they just decided to cover em up and resell them! .
