New to me '99 F350 Dually 7.3L

I forgot I did have to reseal the rear diff cover. I drug it on a rock elk hunting and popped the 23 yr old silicone loose. That led to seeing a roached inner rear rotor due to stuck caliper pins. That was 2 nights before the deer hunt started so I resealed the cover and fixed the rear caliper pins and put on new pads for now. It will get rotors some time later since they are inboard of the hubs.

If you're going to use it like that, maybe you should invest in a heavy duty diff cover.

Probably. I'm sure some of the thickness came off with all the rust I ground off to paint it. I did grind the small amount of overhang down on the bottom so it won't catch the cover next time I drag it.

Finally installed my Trans4mer winch mount and M12000 winch. I need to hook up the cables to the batteries and put a cable on it and do two last bolts that I have to make some special nuts for. I have a cross bar that goes above the winch that needs welded and installed too.

I like it!

My new favorite mod. I hated messing with the tailgate when camping with my fifth wheel but I also needed to keep crap in the bed at the same time. I don't care for fifth wheel tailgates. So I whipped up some brackets for a 2x10. I can put the tailgate on and just leave the board home when not towing my fifth wheel.

I've been considering the same truck you've got. Looks like it's tough to find that aren't rusted badly or complete shitboxes and ones that are, are really proud in their pricing. Done some research on things to look for but seeing as you've been through this recently any advice?

Ones without a ton of miles are hard to find now days. I don't like the auto behind the 7.3L but the 6.0L trucks are not good for most people. If you can find a 7.3L 6 speed truck that isn't way beat thats the one I prefer. Mines a '99 but I'd go for '01-03 as some things are just better. Any thing specific you need to know let me know.

Had one years ago. Threw it away. Never saw the purpose.

848 mile road trip around utah in this beast. No issues. 12-15 mpg. Went on the nastiest road ever up a mtn to a waterfall. Did fine. Creeping in 4lo. Bowling ball size rocks and some ledges for like 2-3 miles. Also took it in some super fine sand on a beach at Lake Powell. Was scared of getting stuck. Did good in 4lo with plenty of throttle.

That’s what I’m talking about! Hell yeah!

Where was the access to Powell? You come in from the Hanksville/bullfrog area or somewhere else?
