that flat bed is bad ass. but everyone does flat beds either way im in!

Yeah the custom one im gonna do is similar but with my own custom twists!

Ok so I will be doing a flatbed this summer with tubing but while I save for the crazy cost to do it I need to address a few other issues. The first is the carb. The previous owner put on an edelbrock qjet look alike but the performance sure doesn't match the qjet. What is the best carb out their for tow rig duty? I have been using FI for so long im outta the carb game. I was going to swap a TBI setup onto this truck but here in cali it would cause a bunch of unwanted smog issues.

Well I still think the Qjet is the best carb for these trucks, I sold me nice rebuilt one, but let me check if I still have rebuildable one, we can rebuild it.

Thanks! Yeah I use to run the qjet's on my 75 k5, and rebuilt it multiple times over the years. Never had a problem with it. the edelbrock the PO put on this truck just doesnt seem to be as smooth or have the throttle response that I remember having on my K5. I already have a new dual plane intake sitting here thats great for idle to 6500 RPM that I will swap in when I replace the carb.

Still need to get together with you about some other stuff that we talked about for my K5 also:D

make a list because I forget a lot.:doah:

Ok so its been a while, been really busy! Just dug out some of my old CB radios and had some questions. I have a Cobra 29 gtl and a President Mckinnley, does anyone know which is a better unit? They are both operational and I will be using a 4ft fire stick with them in my tow rig and the other in the K5 with the 102 SS whip.

They are both good radios just make sure that when installed the swr's are with in spec or you will blow the finals in the radio. Most swr meters are cheap and will save you a radio.

Yeah I have an SWR meter to tune the antenna. The president I think is an older unit but it seems to have better clarity.

Where's the update, mike? :dunno:

Got the front finished and the rear close but ubolts are about an inch short. I can thread them on but the nut only goes on half way. Not sure how big of an issue that is, but Im thinking Ill go Monday to get longer ubolts. Have to call around Monday because I have 13" and I think 14" will be better. Of course there is no one open on Sundays! I take pics and post them also!

4" Lift installed

Ok finally got a chance to post up some pics of the lift. Its a 4" lift, rancho front springs, pro-comp 9000 shocks, dana 60 raised steering block (until I do the crossover) and rear blocks (for now). It gave it a true 4" of lift. It rides much better than the worn out factory springs up front they were sagging pretty bad. The tires are a bit small for the lift (285 75 16) but they are new so im gonna wear them out before getting 35's unless I find a good deal. Next will be new exhaust
