NON Chevy’s in the Wild

I'm pretty sure I'm doing a Rust-Oleum job on my square CC soon. Nobody has inquired about it yet and I know it's the body look.
MAW and see what happens.

I don’t mind honest wear.

That said, the fauxtina can go away.

Also, the inner Michigander in me worries that thing will keep rusting and disappear.

Normalize Maaco and backyard paintjobs again. It might not win in a show but the body is protected.

[/soapbox]

Not a fan of faux patina paint or semi/gloss clear coat over it.

I had a WWII military vehicle aficionado tell me he used genuine CARC paint w transmission fluid wiped on it to help preserve it. Just enough for a dull sheen.

About once a month I try and take the ole Yota out and engage the 4WD and rear locker just to keep things activated on a regular basis but I still never tried out the Crawl Control feature on it - just don’t trust it enough without another truck there just in case.

All the dials and push buttons and dash lights are convenient but there is no doubt that I prefer good old fashioned manual gear levers and manual locking hubs over all this latest technology…

That first truck has a healthy front spring pack !

And what kind of front axle is that in the red truck at the end of the second post of pics - looks like it’s a way older design than the timeframe of that era truck ?

Always look forward to when ya post these Power Wagon fest events.

While it is a thick spring pack, the individual leafs are thin and narrow, so they do ride decent and flex well for a leaf pack.

I will ask about the front axle in the W500, I believe it to be original, as I have seen others W500s with the same axle (Timken???).

This is at Fairfield, IA.

It looks kinda shiny, I'm thinking maybe there's some sort of protection on it. I use boiled linseed oil and I gotta say in 2 years I have bare metal sitting outside that still isn't rusted.

If it’s good enough for Garands and Springfields it’s good enough for your squarebody.
