OFFICIAL* Dante's Peak Suburban Build *

Spent most of the day on the phone talking to people so a few updates.

Talked with Roger Donaldson's (Director of Dante's Peak) agent today and he said Rodger was taking a short vacation in Europe before returning stateside. He just wrapped November Man which is slated for release in November staring Olga Kurylenko, Pierce Brosnan.

But he would let me know when he gets back and forward our request for stills from the filming showing the truck.

Today I was also in talks with a major automotive finishes company about supplying the material to finish the truck. Hope to make an announcement in the next week or two. We will be using GMC paint code 514 Red (Crimson) Here is the color we will be using.

Lawrence,
I have a couple of extra 6 lug wheels that match the movie truck. Let me know if you need any for the spare or drivers... they might need paint, but are exact match. Also, I plan on attending BB13. If there are any parts that are being relayed to the bash, I can help get them back to our neck of the woods, depending on space.

UPDATE 21 August, 2013 4:30 PM MST

On the heels of an official announcement this week introducing KC Hilites as a new sponsor the Dante’s Peak Suburban team announced today a sponsorship agreement with Quaker State Lubricants a division of Shell Oil Products US. LMC Truck is a contributor

Just got off the phone with LMC Truck about getting some parts that have to be replaced when we start painting the Dante's Peak Suburban. They are willing to provide the parts at a discounted rate. With us paying the shipping.

Here are the parts and descriptions.

List of parts to be used on the project.
36-6201 Body side rubber (side rear window) (2 required)
38-5905 Black trim (2 required)
36-7046 Black molding cap (2 required)

38-5915 Rubber kit black (front windshield)

39-7036 Pre cut molding set (side body molding)
38-0921 Vinyl edge sealer pen
38-7017 Wheel well arch (front right hand)

38-7510 Hood insulator
30-2010 retainer (19 required)

So at the discount pricing they are still lower than the other guys. So they are a contributor.

Dante's Peak Suburban build team highly recommends KC HiLites to any one who is considering going cheaper. Their product is far superior in workmanship and quality. From their finish to the wiring their lights go the distance (in lighting too).

Their lights are tough and made to last. Did I mention the 23-year warranty? When you need to see whats ahead KC HiLites lights the way.

Dante's Peak Suburban is proud to have KC HiLites as our official choice of lighting.

Lawrence,
Did you ever bridge the tire carrier issue? I have seen this K5 twice now. Both times it has been parked at the elementary school on Cascade north of 12th st in Montrose. I'm thinking it may be a teacher's rig. If you still need a carrier I suppose I could knock on some doors or leave a note to inquire about it... or at least get some measurements :dunno:. Next time you are up this way during school hours you may pass by and take a look.

UPDATE 11 September 2013
We are proud to welcome CARR on board as an official sponsor of the Dante's Peak Suburban Build. Carr is known for its accessories that smartly enhance vehicle appearance and functionality at practical affordability.

The CARR Story

Started In March of 1945, by Vernon Lester Carr in an old metal shop behind his house in Los Angeles, California. Twenty four years later in 1969 the business changed its name to Carr Pattern Co., its corporate name today. In May of 1972 Vernon Carr passed away, leaving his son Wendell with the family business. Notwithstanding his father’s passing, the business made the necessary adjustments and continued to press forward.

However, several years later in March of 1979, the untimely death of Wendell Carr left his wife and two sons, facing the decision to disband the business or continue making patterns for their existing customer base. The decision was made to stay in business, but the family eventually chose to shift away from pattern-making and pattern-casting and started looking for other business opportunities.

Early in 1983, a whole new industry opened up to them which was an entirely different industry than what had been their mainstay since 1945-the automotive aftermarket. Once the decision was made to change the course of the business into the automotive industry, investment money was gathered and the production facility was expanded. Extensive research, development, and design resulted in the introduction of aluminum cast light bars and truck steps, which were introduced at SEMA, where one of CARR’s products won second place, clearly establishing them as serious new competitors.

Today, CARR, as it is popularly known, is in virtually every major warehouse across the United States and Canada, and has established itself as a company whose accessories place it among the major competitors in the industry. With over 60 years of manufacturing excellence, CARR is a third-generation business, who remains firmly committed to product innovation and design, hassle-free customer service, and offering the consumer various choices in steps, light bars, and other accessories.
