Okay so oil was POURING out and...

It even started for like 3 seconds tonight but there is a lot of tweaking to do with timing and vacuum lines. After get it runnin strong then we can get some good threads about lifts and other cool mods I have in mind:popcorn: Oh and Dueling I got the Rebel Flag Comin in the mail! Only 4 bucks :woot: Bye the way I'm not mechanically inclined at all. I want to learn to work on cars because its fun...most of the time...Came into this project knowing only how to change oil and brakes and now I understand a lot more than I thought I would! Thanks for the help so far guys:D

How big of a AMERICAN flag do I need for my headliner?

Never been run before now..???

From what I know it was a rebuilt long block from city motors so I dont know why there werent threads it was really odd. Around here city motors is looked down upon for motors as they tend to half a** a lot of their products. As for the flag I measured It and a 3x5 foot flag is what I bought and there is going to be extra material. Doesnt matter for rebel flag but It would for US flag if you want to get all 13 stripes in there
 
I know someone who used a beach towel instead a flag. Said it's material was better than an actual flag for the roof.
 
The hole directly above the oil filter is just an oil galley and should either be plugged or use for a pressure switch for an oil gauge.
 
I still don't know how a previously running block come out of the shop with a smooth hole......

I'm still willing to bet there is part of a busted sending unit in there....

but what ever... you tapped it and plugged it...problem solved...:bow:

Wilpetty, Your "Master Mechanic" brother must have been busy when you encountered this problem... I assume this is why you asked here for help and advice.

Let me say this, there are some VERY experienced and courteous people on this site that were patient with you during this post.

I have seen 4X4High's engine shop in person and if you ever get advice from him in the future I recommend you take it as gospel. The dude knows engines better than anyone I have ever met.

The problem with the oil leak seems to be resolved (for now).

It takes a long time to earn respect on this site, I wish you well.
 
He works alot...He stuck around and did/helped me do most of the work from taking out the motor to putting in the new one but lately its been my father-n-law. My brother watched me tap the hole and I'd rather get more insight than just my brother on things as he is wrong...ALOT lol. And we actually started it tonight!!!!! So glad it is finally running! Everything so far has paid off...Finally! And sorry Dueling but I'm usually there at night so pics would look like crap and so far my truck look likes crap anyways but I have a 4 day weekend ahead of me and I think it's time for me to start a build thread for you guys:waytogo: Have a tiny gas leak on carb so have to tighten that a little and also have small water leak from water pump, but all the nerves are gone about it not running:woot: A little more to do under the hood and then finally getting to the fun stuff:popcorn:
 
I was not disrespecting him in anyway and I am sure I will use his advice in the future:waytogo: Will probably still take out the bolt and try to extract whatever is in there but for now I just wanted to get it running! thanks for all the posts guys and I hope I didnt piss anyone off lol
