Old Iron 2.0

Got the ARP studs and rubber gaskets in.

The Moroso spreaders only came in a pack of 4 :what:... so I gotta order another pack for the other valve cover.

Got the valve cover bolt holes straightened back out with a c-clamp then cleaned them up.

I didn't tighten the nuts down on the studs cause the valve covers have to come back off when I put the intake on but they're fully engaged on the threads, should have a few threads sticking up above the top of the nut when they get tightened down.

Are those spreaders upside down? The ones on my K20 are opposite from yours just curious if mine are upside down or yours are.

Edit-my valve covers don't leak either so who knows:dunno:

How he has them is how they were engineered. But if they don't leak, meh

I didn't install mine they were already there just curious, I usually mess with the later heads with center bolt covers

Got new intake gaskets and picked up some grade 8 bolts and washers from Lowe's to bolt the intake down. I used 3/8-16×1.25" in the 4 corners and 1" for the other 8 that run down the sides in the middle.

Used indian head shellac to stick all the gaskets where they needed to be then put some right stuff 1 minute gasket in all 4 corners then bolted the intake down.

The intake plenum wouldn't let me get my swivel socket in there so I couldn't properly torque the bolts... I didn't bolt them in sequence either. I snugged them down in a criss cross pattern and went over them like 8 times until they were nice and tight, fingers crossed that a leak doesn't pop up but I'm pretty sure all is good.

Got the valve covers bolted down, wasn't gonna wait on another set of matching spreaders to show up in the mail so I threw on some old chrom ones that were floating around in my bolts bin.

The throttle cable bracket that was on the old intake didn't match up to my new one, different bolt provisions. Went to O'reillys and got a Mr. Gasket one (I hate that brand) that only uses one stud on the back of the carb... didn't fit so I'm taking that back tomorrow and I'm gonna repurpose and fab up a some stuff I have lying around.

Gonna pop in some new AC Delco spark plugs that have been in the garage for about a year and put my D.U.I. Livewires on.

Still gotta pull the oil pan. Hoping there isn't any surprises hiding in there tomorrow.

Gave the intake bolts one last go in sequence.

Put the carb on, not tightened down yet. I'm gonna build the throttle cable bracket out of 10 ga. steel and have it connect to both of the studs on the back of the carb and run out towards the drivers side valve cover.

So I got to looking around and this carb has a GM specific setup for the throttle cable stud and throttle cable bracket. Looking at about $40 total so I'm gonna go ahead and get them both just so everything operates as it's meant to.

I'm gonna strip that grey rustoleum off of the fenders that I painted and stick to flat black. I can't see myself rolling the whole truck in grey or anything that is glossy.
