Old Iron 2.0

Not sure how far ahead you are but with the amount of droop I had with the long springs up front I had to jump to a tom woods superflex offset ujoint to keep the 1350 from binding up. Something to think about is the available angle with the joint change.
Yeah, I chickened out and just built a high pinion axle instead
:doah:

My pinion yoke is 1350, driveshaft yoke is 1310. I couldn't find an offset conversion joint.

I believe I'm gonna need a long slip with the 52's so I'll probably have to get some driveshaft work done anyway. Maybe 1410 would be more optimal at that point?

Work keeps screwing with my schedule. I don't have to be in until 1:30 this afternoon now.

I'm gonna head to the shop and mount my tires then take them to firestone down the street and have them balanced.

Probably gonna get my parts installed on the D60 and if I have enough time I'm gonna take the old core support out.

The guy that I bought the core support from has some very nice, rust free inner fenderwells that came off of the same truck, I asked about those and he wants $40 for the pair so I will pick those up and put the front end back together with those.

Tried to seat the tires on the wheels... that didn't work out to well. Used a cheetah and that didn't work.

Took them to firestone, they had to use a cheetah on each side simultaneously. 36 PSI in each tire.

One of my wheels is a little bent so I'll get that fixed at a local shop. The other 4 tires balanced out fine without too much weight.

Cost me $65.

Got the studs put in, new pinion seal, 1350 yoke, washer and pinion nut.

Pinion nut torque spec is 260 lbs., my torque wrench only goes to 150 lbs. So I cranked it as much as I could with my breaker bar after I hit 150 on the torque wrench... Gonna hit it with an impact before I hook the driveshaft up.

Pretty sure my driver side lockout is bad, I engage it and when I spin the yoke I can stop the axle shaft from rotating by putting my finger on it.

Had to install the new pinion seal with a roll of masking tape and a piece of 2x4. The cardboard roll that the tape is on was a perfect fit for the seal and I don't have anything else that would work.

Prepping for the suspension today. UPS should be showing up with 87 lbs. of bracketry sometime today.

Prepping the springs for poly bushings, busted out some spray paint, my 9/16" bolts that I held onto from the K5 and some Roloc discs to clean up the marks that the air chisel left on the frame horns.

Just called ORD and bought some more bushings. These 56" springs came off of an '89 Burb. I guess they're metric, I measured the I.D. of the spring eye and it came in just short of 1.75". She said the metric bushings that they carry measure in at around 1.70".

Ordered 6 full bushings so I'll have 2 spares on hand.

I guess it's time to spray paint the parts I got in today. Bushing sho yld be here in two or three days.

I have a box of neer fit bushings. I cycle through them and get a winner every so often

I got rid of 6 trucks worth of bolts, nuts, bushings and brackets before I made my way up here. I'm really bad about holding onto stuff.

Called ORD about my bushing order that I placed yesterday. Said that they are a little backed up and that it should ship tomorrow and be here either Friday or Saturday which is fine with me.

Painted all of the suspension parts yesterday with Rustoleum 2 in 1 (Primer & Paint). I've used it on a lot of different things and it holds up well, keeps me from spraying primer first, having to let it dry and then spraying paint.

The paint was completely dry when I got off of work about an hour ago but it has until Saturday to harden up.

Should have the D60 rolled under the truck, 37's bolted onto both axles and all of the suspension bracketty swapped out with the new and improved stuff within a few hours on Saturday, gonna start at dusk to try and beat the heat.

At that point the truck will not be mobile due to the steering.

Since I can't do the suspension until Saturday I'll be prepping as much stuff as I can to make Saturday morning go quick.

I pulled the old core support and fenders this evening. Bungee corded the radiator to a tab on one of the valve covers to keep it from falling out.

One of the bolts that holds the inner fenderwell into the fender on the driver side sheared off as I was trying to take it out. The inner portion of the fender has some rot in that area, not a huge deal but I still wasnt very happy about it.

I think I may bolt all of the new bracketry on tomorrow, de-bush then re-bush the 52" springs and bolt up the Dana 60 tomorrow, depends on what time I get off of work. The rear end will obviously be on jackstands until the new bushing come in.

The core support and these rust free inner fenderwells that I got today will be soon to follow.
