ONE BIG JIMMY "Everything In TX Is Bigger!"

Articulation is a good point as well
I'm looking into that one
But It does depend on what you want to do with the truck

I think what we might do is use a pin to hold them in and that way I can remove them if needed. Like pins that they use for farm implement draw bars and things like that because they come in a grade 8 if needed

I love them they bolt right up and are probably tougher that the axle housing itself.
But they are heavy!
The poor box they sent them in was done by the time they got to me lol!

Got the front springs on and used the grazeable bolts from DIY4X

Ok here is a quick look at the front axle mounted up on what I would like to call the rough draft :D

I put the Razorback diff cover on for you're viewing pleasure :eek1:

Got the Quad Shock brackets on.
Test run on the shocks. I am using the Rough Country shocks for now. Have not decided what I want to do about those yet and heck I may drive it for a little bit before I change them.

On the 1986 M1028 CUCV it had some cool frame braces that I thought would be helpful.
I do not know if those braces come on all Civilian K20-K30 Models or not but they do come on the M1028 and M1008 models.
I know that my M1009 did not have them.
They are side specific though.

The coolest part about it is that I only had to drill 2 holes on the passenger side frame rail to make them work all the rest of the holes where already there and the proper size.
Who knew?? :dunno:

A customer of mine sold me some Weld Super Single Wheels 16.5x9.75 for $125 bucks for a set of 4
That was a smoking deal so I bought them!

They looked like they sat at the bottom of the ocean with the titanic and need to be polished real bad but I knew they where expensive wheels.

I was hoping that he had 5 but that was asking a little much for the deal I got.

I took them to my powder coater and he hooked me up and coated them in a real nice satin black.

Much Better Now!

Took me a little time but I was also able to track down the center caps for a good deal as well and had them coated.

Started busting down the 14BFF and test fitting the DIY4X disk brake brackets.
I also ordered new spring perches for the axle due to the rear spring widths being different and I wanted to change the pinion angle as well from the M1028 to the K5 without using a high deg shim.
I did have all the measurements wrote down for the difference so I could post them but I cannot find them now. I know that there are a couple of threads on here that touch on that subject. Hell thats how I found my specs to get it done.

got the shackle flip kit installed and the cross tied shackles.
Love them!
They are some heavy duty stuff pretty easy to install the bolt holes aligned right up with no problems.

IMAG1651.jpg

Took forever to get the old spring perches knocked off the axle. When they put those on there they where definitely not intending for them to come off any time soon.

Put the Razor Back cover on to see how it fits. It was a little off on the holes but I ended up not having to do anything to them just a little persuasion got it on.

Here is a couple of pics of the inboard shock mount installed.
That took a little bit of playing around with it to get it where it needed to be.
I really like it though. Much better than the factory location.

Ok I know the concern on the torque arms on articulation but I think we have it figured out. First I wanted to test fit the arms and see what they are going to look like on the this pig.

I ordered some axle tabs from Ballistic but they sent me the wrong diameter.
They sent me the tabs for a 10 bolt. Look at the difference. LOL!

Looking at all the angles and wanting to use the factory brackets with little modification we are going to play with this a little more to make it all work.

After much thought and looking at rigs on the internet and on the road we are going to have to do something about the steering!!

I would like to do a hydraulic steering setup but like in the Capital One commercials "What's in you're wallet?" Not a whole lot!
Plus this damn project has gone way off the original "I'm just going to clean it all up and replace all the bad parts and put it all back together" phase.

So I broke down and got this little gem of a kit
Ballistic Fab High Steer Kit.
It is a little pricey but BAD ARSE!!
Also the tubing in this kit is off the chart on thickness and heavy as all get out!

This is going to be fun!

I am going to order the 2wd steering box for the high steer kit and the jeep pitman arm as recommended on Ballistic Fabs site and on this one.
Hope it all works out!

After looking at all the angles and playing around with the torque arms a little we realized that we will have to use the axle tabs I ordered to mount them to the axle and then use the frame rail mount instead of the original axle mount to bolt these things up to the frame.
I will have to make some spacers for the bushings for it to work out but I just so happen to have some scrap axle tabs that I did not need and will cut those out and make it work but for now you get the idea.

Here are a couple of pics of the mounting now.

Ok now that we are going to mount the arms on the outside of the frame rail instead of under. It did move the whole assembly over about 3 inches but look it was awesome how it worked out the mounting tabs on the axle end ended up going perfectly in between the ubolts and just under the perches.
From the pics they look like they hang down a mile but I assure you they do not and the actually are about half the distance the third member hangs down. So, I'm good with that.

Here is a pic on the alignment of it all.

Im not going to drill the holes for the frame mounts because the body is not on and that will change the location of the bracket when it is loaded down with weight.
