One Piece at a Time: My 1985 Diesel Suburban

I've thought about using those in some places too. Seems like they could be handy to have.
I’m probably going to do more across the interior. Back of the seats; maybe bedsides.

Mmmmm tire barks, my Greg trans does the same!
It’s so perfect dude. They pull the wave spring out of the clutch packs, creating the perfect shift feel without jacking around with the line pressure.

I see a 300hp+ dyno in your near future :-)
After this trip to the PNW, I’ll have a feel for the truck across a range of roads and conditions. Then, it’s time for some Tom foolery.

I thought you were going to use the area inside of the door?

Like a little cubby hole in the door cavity? I like that idea, and might make that a Rev1 project. The pouches, while thin, will intrude on interior space a smidge, so I mostly have slim fitting things in mind for the space - air down stuff, water bladder, flashlight, etc.

I have 6x9 speaker hole in my right rear door, I want to expand it into a rectangle, with a plastic box that dips down inside the door. Atm I keep tie down straps in there I used to keep the barn doors from slamming shut in the wind

Got to try an interesting paint. A friend of mine works at Seymour, and he sent some cans of their “high solids” stuff. It’s basically powder coat repair paint. Neat stuff. We’ll see how it handles wear and tear.

I know that the fuel/air ratio and boost vs fuel also plays a fair amount into it. When things are adjusted well, the oil doesn't take on a lot of soot.
We saw this very clearly with my son's Duramax. It has 240K on it now with an 80hp+ tune. It will go 10K miles on an oil change and the oil isn't black. He tried a different tune from a guy who swore that his would do great. It only took 4K miles to turn the oil fairly black. A quick reflash and oil change, and all was happy again. Clean starts and less smoke on acceleration were back. The oil samples have proven that 10K is no problem for the oil.

So nice job all the way around @AgDieseler . Setting up mechanical injection so well is a dying art!

Excellent point. I think it’s difficult to overstate the importance of clean burning injectors and the right injection/ignition timing for whatever amount of boost. It’s all in a pretty narrow range for adjustment, too. Ignition of 0.5* ATDC is hugely different from the same value BTDC.

Also, I’m an overlander now.

Did you post up where you got those. I'd like to replace my cloth overhead mole storage with a rigid metal piece.
