Pics of my Dana 60 14BFF Install

Dual shocks all the way around. Got the hardware and shocks for the rear. Scratchin my head on the best way to do the front. The front calipers are too big for what I normally set up on the front. Driveshafts are being built by tom woods now and JB is out of the SYE I need. Hopefully I will have the shafts and SYE middle of next week so I can drive it around some. I am bouncing back and forth between a 37X13:50X16 radial claw on a 16X10 Classic lock or 16X38.5X16.5 bias claws on 16.5X12 eaton steel wheels. What do you guys think??

No, occasional stuff. Drive 150 miles to my RV on the weekends during cold weather. Weekend wheelin on medium rated trails at Coal Creek / Windrock.

you'd be better off with 4 nice singles imo.. like a 5150 or similar....

Do you think you have enough lift for the 16X38.5X16.5 bias claws on 16.5X12 eaton steel wheels? It will take several more inches just to clear at full turn then with a 37X13:50X16 radial claw on a 16X10 Classic lock.

I had 11" of lift with 18.5x39x16.5 on 16.5x14 welds and they will rub the back of the fender.

I was thinking 1" body for the 37"s and 2" body for the 16X38.5 bias claws on 16.5X12's with some minor (hopefully) trimming. I had 18x39x15's MT baha's on 15x14"s with 12" suspension on a 79 K5 and it worked out really well. I had 4:11 gears with an SM465 4 speed, 350 sbc GM crate motor and it got 17mpg running 70mph on the interstate and drove like a dream! That 18x39 MT Baha is a friggin HUGE tire on a 14 wide rim. I could not believe how much bigger it was than the 17X40 gumbo's on 15X12's that I had before. 10" may not be enuff if the 16x38.5 claw runs big.

WOW I have a 383 700r4 and 5.13 with 18x39 MT's and never got close to that kind of MPG.

The 4 speed and 4:11's with a properly tuned mild 350 was a gas milage...pussie wagon queen.....ahh the good ole days!! I caught VD in that thing.

Here are a few more pics from tonight. I put Carr Steps on it. Wife demanded something. I think they will look better with bigger rubber.

On the steering, I did a 2" drop pitman arm, 4" drop draglink, and a 2 1/2" raised steering block. I know its old school....but it has worked in the past for me. If I don't like it....I will take it out and go crossover. I had 2 out of 3 pieces laying around gathering dust in the shop.

Damn thing looks really good.:bow:
As for the steering it should work, but crossover would be better.

I just looked at your build. We have very similar tastes. This was gonna be a low buck beater for me....something I have never had. I have never even had it on a trail and I have stripped EVERYTHING from the frame rails down and replaced ALL of it with new chit. The transfer case parts should be here by the end of the week to rebuild it....then its on to the engine and transmission. I really only know how to rebuild stuff one way....to the level of detail that it rolled out of the factory or better. I had a 77 lwb truck on 2.5 ton rockwells that looked like GM built it:D. Ill try to find some pics of my 79 that had 18x39's on 15x14's and 12" suspension lift. It was all white with red interior and was MINT. A real showpiece.

Does the interior look as good as the outside of your subarban?

No, it needs the makeover. My buddy that owned it before me replaced the dash pad and thats about it. I can't get motivated. It's blue and I HATE FREAKIN BLUE!

Blue interior? Me too. Actually, I hate all the int colors besides grey, haha. GM sure made some ugly interior colors in the 80's and early 90's. They've definitely gotten smarter, basically offering tan, dark grey, and light grey in the new stuff. No more red, maroon, blue, etc.

You would think that if you kept your eyes open, you could buy a 90 or 91 burb with grey interior, swap complete interiors, and resell the other with your interior. Would be a project, but could be done in a day, and you'd have ALL the right pieces. There have got to be some used ones with clean interiors out there.....Unless you just replace trim pieces, headliner, carpet, and go custom with seats/consoles.

I would go with the radials. The 37 s would look real good on there. I think the 38s may a tighter fit and I wouldn't wanna cut on this thing. It's to clean

Here are a few pics from tonight. I decided to pull the TC out and go through it. This was as far as I could get this evening. I ordered a SYE from JB conversions along with a new chain and a master rebuild kit. I had them overnight it....it was supposed to be here today. The 6" of snow we got here in TN screwed that up. US mail ran...but not UPS. PHUKKERS! Anyway....here are some shots apart. I will go back together with it as soon as I get parts. My shafts from Tom Woods should be here first of the week. I am DYING to go for a test ride. Tires and wheels are gonna be ordered shortly if I can ever decide what I want to run. I stumbled across an interesting size in the new BFG KM2 that caught my eye. Its a 365/75/16. I think it is like a 14/38/16. BFG's website says it is 37.5" tall on a 10" wide rim.

I agree with your thought process. I am now considering the 37x13.50x16 Baja claw radial on 16x10 classic lock, 16.5x38.5x16 baja bias on 16x12 classic lock or 365x75x16 bfg km2 on 16x12 classic locks. The body is not near as straight as the pics in the shop lighting make it look. It has dents and dings all over it....but I still dont want to do anymore than minor trimming and no more than 1" or 2" of body lift. None would be even better.
