Pics of my Dana 60 14BFF Install

Few More. All I got to do is set the toe in, top off the tranny fluid and center the steering wheel and I am ready for a shake down run!!!:D:D Of course, now I am so down in my back that I cant get around or sleep at night. 2 spinal fusions and my hobbies r building race boats and monster 4x4's. I am an idiot and this is a sickness.....problem is....I have had it all my life!!!

I have some friends coming up from Alabama to visit tomorrow that I used to 4 wheel with and build trucks with. One buddy thats coming I used to have a shop together and build quit a few "frame off" trucks with him. I bought the suburban from him after Xmas 5 weeks ago. He has not seen any of the pics and does not know I have done this. I can't wait to see his face when he walks in and sees it.

One of the things I used to do when I finished all the suspension / wheels / tires was hold the truck wide open and dump the clutch or brake stand the auto and do and ungodly burn out of whoever's shop I was using. It got to be a running joke.... they would say "U better be there when he finishes what he is working on and pull it outside yourself". The problem with this one is that with about 130 rear wheel hp.....it won't do it unless I pour clorox on the floor. That will get solved soon enough. The engine and tranny is next!! I gotta take some time and let my back heal up and then the motor is coming out. I am very happy with the way it has turned out. I did 100% of it by myself (except the driveshafts). Thanks again for all the compliments from you guys and motivation to keep rolling through it.

WOW! That burb looks real pruty on them 37's cant wait to see what you do under the hood.

Well, I took my first drive today and drove FREAKIN AWESOME!!!! Breaks kick aZZ. Steering is tight. Transfer case is so quite u cant tell that it is in there. Got the steering wheel centered. Toe is out about 1/4". Thats tomorrow. I got my new bearings installed on the front Power Lok with some good ole boy redneck engineering. I ended up using a front crank gear for a Jesel belt drive for a BBC. It fit like a glove for use as a Race Driver!

whats your plan for under the hood??

Choices are:
Gm 502 HO 450hp 550tq $6300.00 Approximately $9500 with everything to actually get it installed and going

ZZ572 620hp 650 tq $12,500 with another $3800 to get it all going..all new fuel system close to $17K total

598 NA motor from the guy that built my boat motors. Would be approximately 700hp 775 tq. Waiting on him to finish my qoute. Probably $20K done and installed.

The 502 HO is looking good for the money for what its going in. Plus, a mild built 4l80E that I can do myself that will live behind it.

Just have to ask why you didn't do the power lock before the axle was put under the burb?

I got carried away with myself on the install...I got tunnel vision to keep rollin....

Been there before. Sure would have been easier on the back then having to climb under there to do it now.

I know...your right man. I have never been accused of being the brightest bulb in the pack....but I work hard! I am laid up on the heating pad in the captains chair now. I have to spend some quality time with the misses....or I am going to be living in the burb. I have been working late every night and weekends on this thing the last 3 weeks. She rode with me to the dump in it to throw away all my axle crates and boxes....she loves it too. She is a country girl....and even though we have professional careers....you can't get all the redneck out of either one of us. The motor transplant is going to be as soon as possible. The 350 with 183,000 on the clock all orignal is strugling now (and it was before). I think its even worse now even with the 4:56's. I pulled a 12' untility trailer loaded down.....maybe 2500 lbs....and it had no power! I would like to chassis dyno it just to see if it will break a 100hp.

If you're going to upgrade to a new BIG, high horsepower engine... why not swamp in a Cummins? You could easily get a 97' 12 valve built to the hilt for the money you're talking about (just would be my preference).

That is a great idea.....but I am not diesel savvy to do the swap. I love em (I have a turned up LBZ Dirtymax in my daily driver that is about 400hp 800 tq. I am an obsessive compulsive control freak.....so it never works out and I am never satisfied when I pay someone else to do something. I dont want to go through the learning curve of figuring it all out and making it dependable. I know it can be done....I just dont have the time to do all of it. I know BB Chevys from front to back. So, the simplicity of the swap and the fact that I know how to do it has me leaning that way. The Cummins would be the chit though. Three nights ago.....I scoured ebay looking for a complete late model dirtymax/allison complete with ecm then I remembered how much work was involved in putting a rotax vtwin in my rhino and I closed my laptop.:D
